Montserrado County District #3 Rep. Sumo Mulbah writes ๐๐๐
"How can we as legislators condemn others if we are unable to uphold the laws we enact? The insensitive remarks made against our nation over the past couple of days shouldn't be politicized to benefit any political party. The question of whether the removal of a legislator for actions deemed treasonous or in breach of the constitution constitutes a matter of legislative precedent or a fundamental application of the principle that all citizens including lawmakers are equal under the law is a cornerstone of Liberian constitutional theory. Historically, the power of legislative bodies to expel their own members is derived from Article 38, Chapter 5 of the Liberia Constitution, which grants each house the authority to "punish its members for disorderly behavior, and, with the Concurrence of two thirds, expel a member." However, in my view, this power is not absolute and must be reconciled with the broader democratic mandate that no individual, regardless of their office, is above the rule of law.
When legislators engage in conduct that breaches penal codes or threatens constitutional order, the need for their removal becomes a matter of constitutional integrity rather than political decorum. The government structure must oversee both the governed and the government, ensuring consistent application of law to prevent abuse of power. If legislators commit acts that would be considered treasonous for any citizen, failing to remove them creates a two-tiered justice system, implying lawmakers have immunity from the laws they uphold. This "equality before the law" principle is fundamental to the Liberian legal system, as outlined in Article 11 of the 1986 Constitution. Article 11(a) stresses that all individuals are born free and possess inalienable rights, while Article 11(c) states that all people are equal and entitled to equal protection under the law.
These constitutional guarantees prevent arbitrary discri

Press Statement for Immediate Release!

CDC-COP Declares VP Jeremiah K. Koung a Person of Interest in the Sudden Death of Hon. Solomon George; Demands Independent Forensic Investigation
The National Executive Council of the CDC-COP expresses grave concern over the sudden and troubling death of Hon. Solomon George under circumstances that now raise serious legal and moral questions. Based on recent public remarks made by Vice President Jeremiah Koung on March 27, 2026, at the Capitol Building, wherein he acknowledged that the late Hon. George was present at his residence prior to his death and further admitted to refusing to answer the dying manโs calls, we hereby declare Vice President Koung a person of interest in this matter. Such a statement, by its very nature, constitutes a material admission that warrants immediate and thorough investigation.
In keeping with the laws of the Republic of Liberia, particularly the Criminal Procedure Law and provisions under the Penal Law of Liberia relating to suspicious deaths and possible criminal negligence, the Liberia National Police (LNP) is under both a legal and constitutional obligation to initiate a full-scale forensic investigation. This must include, but not be limited to, toxicology analysis, autopsy review, digital forensics of communication records, and a comprehensive inquiry into what exactly transpired at the residence of the Vice President. The failure to respond to distress calls from an individual who was last known to be in oneโs custody or proximity raises potential liability under doctrines of duty of care and criminal neglect, which must not be ignored.
Moreover, Article 11(c) of the 1986 Constitution of Liberia guarantees equal protection under the law. This principle demands that no public official, regardless of rank or office, should be shielded from investigation where credible suspicion exists. The CDC-COP therefore calls on the Government of Liberia to ensure that this matter is

RWAANDA'S ROAR: RWANDAN PRESIDENT KAHESHEGANE PAUL KAGAME TO THE RESCUE IN LIBERIAN-GUINEAN BORDER DISPUTE.
Many politicians are trying to spin a simple truth into a lie, but I am here to set the record straight. President Joseph Nyumah Boakai, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Liberia, reached out to French President Emmanuel Macron, seeking his help in the Liberian-Guinean border dispute. Unfortunately, President Macron was limited in his influence, as Guinea, along with Burkina Faso and Mali, has distanced itself from French interests.
The United States Government, however, has significant influence over Guinea, having played a role in the country's military coup. Despite this, President Boakai opted to reach out to Rwandan President Paul Kagame, who has a strong relationship with Guinean President Mamadi Doumbouya. It seems President Kagame is the go-to person for resolving this issue.
Guinean President Mamadi Doumbouya has publicly acknowledged his friendship with President Kagame, showcasing their bond during recent high-profile events in Guinea. The Liberian National Security Council recognized this dynamic and advised President Boakai to reach out to President Kagame for assistance.
President Boakai took their advice and called President Kagame, exchanging pleasantries before requesting his help in resolving the border dispute. However, the issue is more complex than just land; Guinea sees Liberia's actions as a potential threat to its sovereignty.
Guinea has deployed soldiers to the border, creating a military buffer zone in case of any eventualities. This move suggests that Guinea is taking the situation seriously, and Liberia needs a diplomatic solution fast. The actual inner truth is Guinea through her intelligence gathering network is of the opinion that Liberia is plotting, consciously or unconsciously the overthrow of the Guinean Government. The situation at the Lib
