{AUWA CLARIFIES MISLEADING CLAIMS REGARDING GRADUATION FEES}

The Administration of the Adventist University of West Africa (AUWA) wishes to categorically clarify and debunk the misleading rumors circulating on social media regarding alleged “high inflation” in graduation fees for the 2026 graduating class.

For the record, the official graduation fee of the Adventist University of West Africa remains US$450, consistent with the institution’s established policy and in line with acceptable standards within the education sector of the Republic of Liberia. This fee has not been arbitrarily increased by the administration as falsely portrayed by certain social media blogs.

The University Administration, in the interest of efficiency and student convenience, introduced a new initiative this academic year to ensure that graduating students receive both their degrees and transcripts on graduation day.

This decision was overwhelmingly welcomed and embraced by members of the graduating class, as it eliminates unnecessary delays and additional stress associated with returning months later to process academic documents. Naturally, as practiced in institutions across Liberia and beyond, students are responsible for the processing costs associated with transcripts and degree preparation.

Additionally, AUWA maintains a strict academic policy requiring graduating students to submit their final research projects in approved hardcover format before degrees can be issued. To reduce the financial burden on students and ensure uniformity with AUWA’s approved research formatting standards, the University, through its publishing department, decided to assist students with the printing and binding of their research papers at a more affordable cost than what is generally charged outside the institution. This intervention was specifically intended to support students financially while helping them meet graduation timelines without unnecessary complications.

Furthermore, the Administration wishes to emphasize that any cost beyond the official US$450 graduation fee was not imposed by the University. Such additional expenses were collectively discussed, agreed upon, and organized by members of the graduating class themselves for activities and arrangements outside the official obligations of the University Administration.

This is precisely why the graduation clearance process clearly provides a transparent breakdown of the various fee allocations to avoid confusion and ensure accountability.

The Adventist University of West Africa remains committed to transparency, academic excellence, institutional integrity, and the welfare of its students. We therefore encourage the public to disregard misinformation intended to misrepresent the institution and instead rely on official communications from the University.
