In Mandingo culture and traditions, death is considered preferable to the humiliation and dehumanization that may be inflicted upon them.
Mandingo men and women prefer death to being humiliated.

Recently, I have been closely observing the activities of District #2 Representative, Hon. Ivar K. Jones, following his return from the United States of America (USA). Prior to attending a robust leadership seminar in the States, Hon. Jones was one of the most vocal lawmakers in the National Legislature. His consistent advocacy and active participation in legislative debates, particularly concerning the national budget and policies beneficial to his constituents and the country, have distinguished him as a dedicated public servant.
Hon. Jones' unwavering legislative commitment led to the passing of the bill for Harbel University in the lower house, which is now under consideration in the Senate. This achievement is a testament to his relentless efforts, and we wholeheartedly applaud him for it.
Since his return from the USA, Hon. Jones has continued to impress us with his dedication. Just a few days ago, he awarded scholarships to 150 students and presented certificates of appreciation to over 60 schools. His generosity did not stop there; within the same week, Hon. Jones donated 10 bundles of zinc to Peace FM 96.5 in Harbel, fulfilling a pledge he made during a fundraising event for the construction of a new radio station. Additionally, he provided Quest United Methodist High School in Cotton Tree with a complete PA system, including two giant speakers, a six-channel amplifier, and a set of microphones, honoring a promise made during the school's 2022-2023 academic year program.
Looking ahead, Hon. Jones will be conducting a district meeting at Dolo’s Town Hall on Saturday, June 1, 2024, at 11 am. This event will serve as an opportunity for him to present his quarterly district report and engage in a constructive conversation with his constituents about the development of the district.
Hon. Ivar K. Jones exemplifies exceptional leadership and possesses extensive knowledge of legislative processes. It is my hope that other representatives will emulate his example and steer clear of divisive tribal confrontations with their constituents.
To the Chairman of the Margibi County Legislative Caucus, Hon. Ivar K. Jones, my revolutionary and ideological salute to you, leader! ✊✊✊✊

BETRAYAL OF THE RESCUE TEAM: A CALL TO SENATE PRO-TEMP NYONBLEE KARNGA LAWRENCE
Written by Jahmanati Mamadi Sackor, Imminent Resident of District #1, Margibi County.
In a stunning and perplexing turn of events, our esteemed "Rescue Mother," Senate Pro-Tempore Nyonblee Karnga Lawrence, stands accused of an unexpected betrayal. The very individuals who stood steadfast and unwavering in their support of President Joseph Nyumah Boakai and her own historic rise to become the second elected female Pro-Tempore of the Liberian Senate are now facing the harsh reality of job losses to their political adversaries.
The troubling allegations suggest that Senate Pro-Temp Nyonblee Karnga Lawrence is facilitating the transfer of jobs from loyal rescue team members to staunch CDCIANS. These are the same individuals who vehemently opposed the rescue team in District #1, Margibi County, utilizing cash inducements, death threats, and even depriving some rescue team members of their jobs due to their refusal to back former President George Manneh Weah's re-election bid.
If these allegations hold true, it is imperative that our "Rescue Mother" acknowledges the sacrifices made by the rescue soldiers. These brave individuals rejected material temptations such as cash, cars, motorbikes and luxurious lifestyles, all in their unwavering commitment to see President Boakai elected and to support her ascension as Senate Pro-Tempore. Where were Senator James Emmanuel Nuquay, Representative Roland Opee Cooper, and their supporters during this critical time? They were reportedly campaigning vigorously for former President George Manneh Weah, while the rescue team faced unparalleled challenges.
It is particularly disheartening to hear that during 2023 presidential election, Senator Nuquay's office staffers, along with a few CDCIANS, joined forces at the joint chambers of the Capitol Building to denigrate the current President Joseph Nyumah Boakai, Vice President Jerrymiah Kpang Koung, and the very Senate Pro-Temp Nyonblee Karnga Lawrence. Why, then, are these lawmakers now recommending hardcore CDCIANS for positions they did not earn, especially those who have no history of supporting the rescue team during the 2023 presidential election?
The recent appointment of local government leaders in District #1, Margibi County has raised significant concerns. Why are Senator Nuquay and Representative Roland Opee Cooper recommending individuals who actively campaigned for President Weah, instead of those who tirelessly worked towards the rescue team's victory? This is a serious matter that cannot be taken lightly.
We vividly remember the aftermath of the 2017 presidential elections, when President Weah's victory resulted in appointments exclusively for those who supported the revolution. Hon. Anthony Brown, the CDC campaign manager in District #1, Margibi County, was appointed as township commissioner, and other prominent CDCIANS received local government leadership positions as political rewards.
Senator Nuquay and Representative Roland Opee Cooper must refrain from meddling in the appointments of individuals who did not earn their positions through genuine support for the rescue team. It is unjust to reap the benefits of a harvest they did not sow. The members of the rescue team, who campaigned tirelessly with limited resources, braving harsh weather conditions and traversing villages to realize their dream, deserve far better than this humiliation.
In District #1, where influential figures like Senator McGill, former Finance Minister Samuel D. Tweh, and former Special Aid to the President Sekou Kalasco Damaro reside, the rescue team stood their ground and overcame formidable obstacles to secure a victory ahead of the CDC. These brave militants and cadres of the Unity Party in District #1, Margibi County, deserve recognition, respect, and the positions they were promised.
It would be a complete disgrace if the rightful authorities alter the current list of appointees to include the names currently being circulated. The Unity Party must ensure that its partisans are not treated with such disdain. Senator Nuquay and the de facto CDC representative of District #1, Hon. Roland Opee Cooper should exercise patience and respect the sacrifices made by the rescue team.
In my next write-up, I will delve deeper into the dangers associated with the names of hardcore CDCIAN being recommended by Senator Nuquay and Representative Cooper. I will provide evidence to support my claims and expose the true nature of the individuals being proposed for these positions. It is crucial that we remain vigilant and ensure that those who are corrupt, tribalist, and radical extremists are not given any power.
The voices of the rescue team members must be heard, and their contributions must be acknowledged. It is time for our leaders to honor their commitments and ensure that justice prevails.
