An interview was conducted with Mr. Alpha O. Bah, student council Government President of Bomi Community College (BCC)/Western Region University, to discuss some of the major challenges affecting students and the institution.

During the interview, Mr. Bah highlighted several key issues facing students. He noted that inadequate internet connectivity (WiFi) remains a major challenge, making it difficult for students to conduct research, access online learning materials, and complete academic assignments effectively.

He also expressed concern about the poor condition of the road leading to the institution’s new campus in Fendall. According to him, the bad road creates transportation difficulties for students, faculty, and visitors, especially during the rainy season.

Another challenge identified was the lack of adequate dormitory facilities for students. Mr. Bah emphasized that many students travel long distances to attend classes and would greatly benefit from comfortable and affordable on-campus accommodation.

In addition, Mr. Bah called on government agencies, development partners, and private organizations to provide financial aid and scholarship opportunities for outstanding students. He stressed that students who demonstrate exceptional academic performance should be supported to pursue foreign studies, enabling them to gain advanced knowledge and skills that can contribute to national development.

Mr. Bah concluded by expressing optimism that with the support of stakeholders, these challenges can be addressed to improve the quality of education and student welfare at Bomi Community College/Western Region University.
