A few weeks ago, Colleen Ferguson began noticing something very strange about the behavior of her German Shepherd dog. The dog, named Inca, kept approaching her and persistently sniffing her mouth… as if she was trying to tell her that something wasn’t right.

Inca was only two years old, but her behavior was completely unusual. She repeatedly sniffed her owner’s mouth and then looked at her with clear concern. This strange behavior left Colleen both confused and worried.

The dog’s persistence led Colleen, who was 60 years old at the time, to visit a dentist. After the examination, everything appeared normal. But Inca didn’t stop this odd behavior—she kept sniffing her mouth and reacting with the same concern.

So Colleen decided to visit a doctor for deeper medical tests, since some illnesses can change the smell of a person’s breath. For example, diabetes can alter breath odor, and gluten intolerance or celiac disease can also cause unusual breath smells. But surprisingly, all the tests came back normal.

And yet… Inca still wouldn’t stop warning her.

As her concern grew because of this unusual behavior, Colleen finally decided to undergo a full body examination, just to make sure nothing serious was wrong.

Colleen later said:

> “Her behavior toward me suddenly changed. She became strangely focused on my mouth. Every time she came close to sniff it, she would frown as if something bothered her. I never expected it to be lung cancer. It was a huge shock, especially since I’ve never smoked in my life. I used to teach biology, so I’ve always been strongly against smoking.”

But the truth was shocking…

Doctors discovered that a tumor was growing in her lung. In fact, Inca had been trying to warn her the entire time. Thanks to the dog’s incredibly strong sense of smell and persistent behavior, the cancer was discovered at a very early stage.

Colleen then underwent urgent surgery, during which doctors successfully removed a tumor the size of a golf ball from her lung.

After the operation, the surgeon told her:

> “That dog saved your life… We rarely detect this type of cancer in its first stage.”

It’s an incredible story that reminds us of the loyalty of animals and their remarkable ability to sense things that humans often fail to notice. 🐶💙

Despite his fierce appearance, he is one of the kindest and most beautiful dogs.
