In city's heart, a green gem lies
A forest haven, where nature sighs
Amidst concrete, steel, and busy throng
A tranquil escape, where peace is strong
Tall trees stand, like sentinels of old
Guarding secrets, and stories untold
The city hum, a distant, muffled sound
As leaves rustle, and branches sway, profound
A haven for birds, and creatures small
A refuge from life's hectic, noisy call
In Mzuzu's heart, this forest blooms
A green oasis, where beauty resumes
Katoto forest at heart.

A New Era for Soweto and Mzuzu City: A Gift of Sports and Hope
The Mzuzu Diocese's generous decision to donate a 3-hectare land within the Integrated Ecology Centre area for a sports complex is a game-changer for the Soweto community and Mzuzu City. This initiative is expected to bring about a significant transformation in the lives of residents, particularly children and young people.
The designated sports area, featuring a football pitch, basketball, volleyball, and netball courts, will provide a safe and accessible space for kids to engage in physical activity, develop their skills, and build social relationships. This is a welcome relief for parents and guardians who have been concerned about the safety of their children playing in the nearby forest.
The sports complex is likely to have a positive impact on the community, promoting a culture of sports and physical activity, reducing crime and anti-social behavior, and fostering community cohesion and social integration. The facility will also provide opportunities for local sports teams and clubs to develop and compete, promoting healthy competition and talent development.
The project is also expected to have a positive impact on the local economy, creating opportunities for local businesses to provide goods and services, and attracting visitors and investors to the area.
The Mzuzu Diocese's initiative is a testament to its commitment to community development and social responsibility. The sports complex is a beacon of hope for a brighter future for Soweto and Mzuzu City, and a shining example of what can be achieved through community collaboration and partnership.
As the project takes shape, the community is eager to see the positive changes it will bring. With this new sports complex, Soweto and Mzuzu City are poised for a brighter, healthier, and more prosperous future.

Nature and its wonders in our Katoto forest #
09/10/2025
Ripples on the pond's calm face,
A reflection of the sky's vast space,
A pair of ducks, a waddling stride,
Their feathers glistening, side by side.
The water's edge, a haven serene,
Where nature's beauty is truly seen,
The ducks' soft quacks, a soothing sound,
As they glide effortlessly, without a bound.
The ripples spread, a shimmering haze,
As they dive down, in a watery daze,
Their webbed feet paddle, with gentle ease,
In harmony with nature's peaceful breeze.
In this tranquil scene, I stand and stare,
Grateful for the beauty that's beyond compare,
The water's peace, the ducks' delight,
A symphony of nature, pure and bright.
