Headache Fighting Food

Headaches are not isolated occurrences. They are symptoms of a number of physical and mental imbalances. One root cause can be your DIET. Eating a balance diet in preventing and fighting headaches.

Low blood sugar levels can cause headaches. This why maintaining a balanced level of sugar in the blood is important. This is not refined sugar but carbohydrates and fructose sugars that benefit the body eg. fruits.

If you suffer from headaches, try avoiding food that contain tiramines, which found in spinach, tomato, potato, tuna, liver, dark chocolate and alcoholic drinks. Copper rich food like dried fruits, wheat germ shellfish and citrus fruit also been found to cause headaches. Below are some of the suggestions of food for fighting headaches.

Oatmeal is recommended for fighting headaches and nervous ailments. Because it is high in phosphorous, oatmeal is a very good food for supporting brain activity.

Celery is a great vegetable that might relieve your headaches and other ailments caused by stressful situations. Its composition is rich in potassium, phosphorous and vitamins C, B and E which akes it a great food against intense headaches., because these active components can calm pain.

Sunflower seeds are rich in vitamin E, phosphorous, magnesium and potassium. They can be very good for fighting headaches and dizziness.

Note : some of the above said foods might be allergic or laxative to some other person. Please try in small quantity for beginners to see whether it suits your body well.

Personal Experiences on Essential Oil..

I feel very grateful with Doterra Essential Oils. It helps myself, my families and my friends alot. My mum who has Rheumatoid Arthritis has recovered a lot from the use of the oils. She used to wake up middle of the night due to the pain in her hand. After using the essential oils, she can sleep very well the whole night with no pain.

My aunty used to have very bad headache. She was taking Panadol almost everyday. I was very shocked to hear that and immediately I send a bottle of Peppermint EO to her. She applied daily on her temples, spine and behind neck. Now she no longer need to take Panadol and her headache has reduced a lot. Everytime when she feels that the headache is about to come, she will apply the EO and she will feel very relieved after applying the EO.

I am sharing the above stories hoping that the Essential Oil can helps many more people out there. Sharing is caring :)

Now even my niece who is only 5 years old know how to apply essential oil when she got bitten by mosquitoes and when she feels stomach discomfort. :).

PART 2 OXALATE
In Part 1, we have explored what is Oxalate. Should we avoid Oxalate food then? The answer is NO.

Most healthy food contains oxalate, but they also containing important antioxidant, fiber and other nutrients. Avoiding them is not necessary for most people unless for those with altered gut function may need to limit their intake. People who have had one episode of kidney stones may be advised to minimize their consumption of foods high in oxalate too.

Some of the oxalate you eat can be broken down by bacteria in your gut before it can binds to mineral. However some people donโ€™t have much of this bacteria in their gut because ANTIBIOTICS decrease the number of this bacteria.

Here are some tips on how to follow a low oxalate diet:-
1. Soaking and cooking certain vegetable and legumes can reduce the oxalate content.
2. Drink plenty of water. Aim for 2 litres a day
3. Get enough calcium. Calcium binds to oxalate in your gut and reduces the amonut your body absorbs.
4. Avoid high-dose Vitamin C Supplements. Vitamin C can be converted to oxalate
5. Increasing your calcium intake when eating foods with oxalate can help to lower the oxalate levels in urine.

Oxalate only found in plant foods. All the meat and fish are safe from oxalate. One of the vegetable which has the highest oxalate level in SPINACH.

OXALATE โ€“ PART 1
Are you familiar with Oxalate?? You might not know the term but is a common thing in the daily food you take.

Vegetables, whole grains and nuts are among the popular food for those who are health- conscious. However, do you know that these foods contain anti-nutrient called โ€œoxalateโ€.

Oxalate is an organic compound found in many plants, including vegetables, fruits, cocoa, nuts and seed. Once consumed, oxalate can bind to minerals to form compound, including calcium oxalate and iron oxalate. This mostly occurs in colon but can also take place in kidneys and other parts of the urinary tract. In most people, these compounds are then eliminated in stool or urine.

However in sensitive individuals, high oxalate diets have been linked to an increased risk of kidney stones and other health problems. Oxalate can also reduce mineral absorption.

Certain risk factors may cause your body to form calcium oxalate stones. These risks factor include dehydration, high protein diet, obesity and inflammatory bowel disease.

My Covid-19 Recovery Story...
I was infected by Covid-19 virus recently. It all started with itchy throat and the next day I had cough and a fever. I took paracetamol and the fever is under control. However the cough was bad even I took cough medicine. All of a sudden I remembered Doterra essential oil which was given to me by my good friends. No harm to give it a try.

I applied Doterra Tea Tree followed by Peppermint essential oil on my chest and spine. I also applied Doterra Lemon EO on my throat continuously for 2 days . 3 times in 1 day. The cough subside 90% and my throat was not dried and not itchy on the 3rd day. It really helps a lot. Most importantly I had a good sleep after applying these oils.

Of course, other than the Essential Oils, you must also take a lot of vitamins and minerals that help to boost you immune system.
