PGL Herbal Soap

e are about one out of three of Malaysians were facing the skin problems and the number keep increasing by years. Langerhans cells play a major role as in vivo antioxidants to recognize the foreign substances in the skin and protect it from any pathophysiological changes. However, rapid aging process may reduce the number of Langerhans cells which contributed to numerous problems on the skin. Phyllanthus gomphocarpus leaves (PGL) were scientifically proved to possess high antioxidant capacities and contain active pythochemicals constituents such as flavonoids, saponins, tannins, terpenoids and anthraquinones. This study was carried out to invent a health soap name as ‘PGL HERBAL SOAP’ which enriched with the antioxidant properties from our local traditional herb, PGL. Promising value of antioxidants from ‘PGL HERBAL SOAP’ have been proved by 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH), total flavonoid content, total phenolic content tests and it’s nutritional compositions were evaluated by using proximate analysis. All procedures were conducted according to standard methods described by the Association of Official Analytical Chemists (AOAC) 1995.

‘PGL HERBAL SOAP’ soap provides good antioxidant properties that can eliminate the free radicals and oxidative process for a better and healthy skin.
