60 BILLION FOR A CHURCH AUDITORIUM: IS THIS THE PRIORITY ALA-IGBO NEEDS?

Ndi-Igbo, first of all, we must commend Evangelist Ebuka Obi for having the vision and capacity to undertake a project of this magnitude. Building a mega auditorium that can accommodate thousands of people is certainly no small achievement.

But beyond the excitement, we must ask ourselves one uncomfortable question: Is this where we should be directing so much capital in Ala-Igbo?

₦60 BILLION is not small money.

Imagine what that kind of investment could do if even a significant portion went into factories, manufacturing plants, agricultural processing, industrial machinery, technology hubs, vocational training and businesses that create thousands of sustainable jobs.

Imagine an industrial park where young graduates become engineers, technicians, programmers and manufacturers.

Imagine factories processing our agricultural products instead of exporting raw materials.

Imagine Aba, Nnewi, Onitsha, Owerri, Umuahia and other Igbo cities becoming massive production centres again.

That is the kind of revolution we desperately need.

Let me be clear: Religion is not the problem. Churches are not the enemy. Prayer is important. Faith is important.

But prayer alone will not employ millions of unemployed young people.

Factories will. Industries will. Technology will. Manufacturing will. Agriculture will. Entrepreneurship will.

We cannot continue building magnificent worship centres while our young people are searching desperately for jobs and opportunities.

Ndi-Igbo, perhaps it is time we asked ourselves a harder question:

Are we building an economy that can sustain the next generation, or are we only building monuments that will remind them of what we could have invested in?

Our ancestors were traders, inventors, manufacturers and industrialists.

We need to return to that spirit.

Let us pray, yes.
Let us build churches, yes.
But let us also build factories.
Let us build technology.
Let us build industries.
Let us build agricultural systems.
Let us build businesses that employ thousands.

Ala-Igbo does not only need bigger buildings.
Ala-Igbo needs bigger opportunities.

And sometimes, the most uncomfortable criticism is the one we need to hear.

ATIKU TAKES TINUBU TO COURT OVER NYSC CERTIFICATE CONTROVERSY

The 2027 presidential battle has taken a dramatic turn.

Former Vice President and ADC presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has approached the Federal High Court in Abuja, asking the court to disqualify President Bola Ahmed Tinubu from contesting the 2027 presidential election over an alleged forged NYSC discharge certificate.

Atiku personally appeared at the court registry and deposed to an affidavit supporting the case.

At the centre of the suit is Section 137(1)(j) of the 1999 Constitution, which deals with the presentation of a forged certificate to INEC.

According to Atiku's allegations, the NYSC certificate submitted to INEC bears the name “Tinubu Bola Adekunle”, rather than Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and he is asking the court to determine whether this amounts to grounds for disqualification.

But let's be clear: these are allegations before the court, not a judicial finding that Tinubu forged any certificate.

Now the big question is:

Will this case change the shape of the 2027 presidential race, or will it become another major legal battle between Atiku and Tinubu?

The court will have the final say.
