Matthew 6:1: "Be careful not to practice your righteousness in front of others to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven."
Sincerity in Faith and WorshipJesus warned against doing good deeds, giving to the poor, or praying simply to be praised by other people.
Matthew 5:6: "Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled."
Matthew 6:33: "But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well."
Seeking God Above All ElseJesus instructed his followers to prioritize God’s kingdom and His righteous standards above worldly desires and material wealth.
Luke 6:36: "Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful."
Matthew 5:7: "Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy."
Matthew 5:43-44: "You have heard that it was said, 'Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.' But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you."
