There are wounds a child may carry for a lifetime, especially when the person who was supposed to protect her becomes the person who hurts her the most.
Imagine being a teenage girl who should have been protected, guided, loved, and given the freedom to grow—but instead, her own mother betrays her trust and mistreats her. The pain is not only in what happened; it is in knowing that the person she believed would always stand by her chose to become the source of her suffering.
A mother is supposed to be a safe place. Her arms should feel like home. Her words should build her daughter’s confidence, not destroy it. When a mother repeatedly mistreats her own teenage daughter, she may leave scars that cannot be seen on the body but can remain deeply rooted in the heart.
That little girl may grow up smiling, but inside, she may be asking: “Why didn’t my own mother love me enough to protect me?”
No child deserves to feel unwanted, rejected, humiliated, or unsafe in the home that should have been her sanctuary. Children may eventually become adults, but the memories of how they were treated can remain with them for years.
