Forlesia Cook, whose grandson was killed in a 2017 shooting, defended Donald Trump at a White House Black History Month event on Feb. 18, 2026, rejecting claims of racism and praising his crime policies as he faced criticism over a controversial social media video.
“I love him. I don’t want to hear nothing you got to say about that racist stuff,” Cook said.
Trump responded, “When is she running for office? You have my endorsement.”
Cook cited Trump’s support for National Guard deployments and said she trusts his leadership on crime in Washington, DC.
Her grandson, Marty William McMillan Jr., was killed in 2017, and his killer was sentenced in 2024.
The event came after a video posted to Trump’s Truth Social account was removed, prompting criticism and mixed reactions from supporters and opponents.
