When I married Chike, his mother seemed like the sweetest woman a|!ve 😭😌. She cooked for US. She helped clean. She even offered to stay with us just for a few months while we settled into married life.

Those few months turned into two years 💔🥲.

I didn't comp|ąin. She was kind. She never interfered in our marriage. And Chike loved having her around.

But there was one rule she gave me that I never understood.

"Every full moon," she said calmly one evening,

Then she stood up.

She walked to her wooden box in the corner and pulled out a small red cloth. Inside the cloth was something that looked like hair.

My hēārt started pounding 💔😩.

She kne|t beside me, so close I could smell the palm oil on her wrapper, and placed the hair on the floor next to my head.

Then she whispered, "One more month. Just one more, and the transfer will be complete."

My b|øød turned to ice 😭.

TRANSFER? WHAT TRANSFER?

I fõrced myself to stay still. To keep brẽǎthing slowly. To not scrēąm.

Mama stood up, walked back to her bed, and lay d
