THE MYSTICAL MOTHER-IN-LAW

PART 1

I grew up in a home of fashion. My parents were models and still practice it till date. Fashion is/was my lifestyle. I spend hours trying to spice up my outward looks with unimaginable and befitting attire

I met my husband in a fashion exhibition where I was one of the auditor and he accompanied a friend to the event. One thing led to the other,we found love together and we got married.

I was not expecting a class of "why jeweleries and good looking must be prohibited in my home" until my mother-in-law visited a year after our wedding when she came for babysitting

I am a woman of high class taste in jeweleries and clothes,I make my money and get all of my needs without making demands from my husband even when he insist I present my needs before him,I get them myself to avoid cancellation

After a week when my mother-in-law visited, she called me aside after breakfast as family and said we had some discussion and some lessons for me to learn (At this point, I wasn't stable with my thoughts as everything around my thoughts were just, you have done wrong oooo).... I followed her and she led the way to her room. We sat opposite and she started with "I am grateful to God that my son married a beautiful woman like you and you are hardworking and not authoritative or proud with all that you have gotten, but there's something that you must know as a wife in this family, we don't allow danglings and too much adornments on our daughter-in-law, you know, been married to the first son of the house means you are the first daughter and there are a lot that will be handed over to you as I grow older and join my Creator"..... At this point,I was calm and in a way not surprised because I have never seen her on jeweleries even on our wedding day despite how wealthy and famous my husband's family and she also be a first-class business woman

I gave a listening ear and never interrupted her and she continued....."my mother-in-law also gave me this lecture but quite early than yours because I noticed you were always busy and most often not around,so,I decided to wait till this opportunity of babysitting. It's not a religious thing my daughter, it's just the family norms and custom held with great and sacred heart ".... This time I became confused while is it held with sacredness,I thought within me. Is there something that I don't know?... She continues,"I will be staying for three months as I promised and in this few months, you will understand better and become the next of kin to everything applied to this sacred sacrifice if you obey it".... She left immediately without a chance for me to ask her some of the disturbing questions.
