No matter what class you belong to, you need an EHR for so many reasons. A lot of patients have passed on because their doctors didn't give them the right treatment. A number of these cases are because the medical practitioners involved didn't have access to sufficient information about the medical background of the patient that was treated. Avoid incidents like this by creating an EHR of your own today. Create yours with Medcera now!

Electronic health record (EHR) implies the digital storage of patient’s clinical information. However, there’s more to EHR than just the keeping of records. Have you ever wondered how it would feel to pick up a material with the intention of educating yourself on a particular topic, and then you find out that the pages in the textbook are inchorently organized? Imagine how disappointed and unfulfilled that would be. EHR does more than digitally storing patient data. It computes the data it is supplied with and provides healthcare providers with meaningful information that makes it easier for them to understand a patient's medical condition and provide the patient with the appropriate healthcare needed. EHR increases profitability!
By increasing the efficiency of delivery, implementing an EHR can improve profitability for any practice. Firstly, using digital records cuts out the time it takes nurses to sift through shelves in search of patients records, reduces the need to record patient's vitals over and over again before they have an encounter with the doctor. The Electronic Health Record Solution also makes data entry easier and much faster by providing pre-filled templates when documenting regular patients complaints, and also when writing drug prescriptions allowing doctors to just select from a drop down menu. The implication of this is an increase in the number of patients the hospital or doctors can attend to daily hence increase in cumulative revenue. It also means reduced cost on papers & files hence a decrease in yearly cost on office supply. Whilst implementing an EHR system might seem expensive at an early stage, it has proven to yield tangible long term return on investment to those that adopts it. So it remains a winning strategy for practices that plans to stay the long term. What is your profitability strategy and how is EHR influencing your figures?

Without proper training, the whole time and resources invested into planning and implementation of an EHR system could end at nothing. A proper training program should be designed for the doctors, surgeons, nurses, technical staffs, administrative staff, superusers etc who would be using the software.
Start with the basic skills before the launch, users will gain mastery as they use the software for daily operations. Design an effective feedback strategy that helps you monitor the success of your initiative and take note of corrections and improvements suggested by the users.
Aside learning to use the software, ensure to answer the "why the change?" and "what's in it for me?" questions to ensure all staff members are in support of the change initiative.

Having done all necessary planning, next step is the transfer of data into the system. This can be assigned to existing staff, or outsourced to temporary staff.
Medcera team helps you take care of that, with our team of health data entry experts at a good rate.
It is important at this stage to avoid any errors or complications that could come up during the data entry process. You could be transferring your data from an existing EHR platform to the new or newly uploading them from the paper records

This is very key as it defines every patients experience during every encounter. Who is the first point of contact? How is payment handled? What is the positioning of the doctor, his computer and the patient? The patient can easily feel ignored if the doctor always have to face his computer over the patient. A triangular positioning of patients seat, the computer and the doctor could is a better approach. Who prints out patient take home slip?
All these should be taken care of with a well thought out workflow from entrance to exit.

This a very essential part of of the patient-care workflow.
The availability of hardware to the nurses and each doctor means they can easily have access to records real-time and reduce total time it takes to serve a single patient. Strategically positioning enough printers in the right offices also increases efficiency and reduces time. All these, including monthly cost of internet connectivity, and necessary hardware in the case of teleclinc must be well noted and put into consideration during the planning phase

Choosing an EHR software should be done with utmost carefulness. Factors to put into consideration includes ease of use, completeness in capturing necessary clinic operations, security of data, cost of software purchase and maintenance, user interface and experience, personalization, etc. Building an EHR from scratch to meet all these criteria could consume a lot of time and resource. As such, we strongly recommend partnership with companies that fully focus on building these systems efficiently. They usually also do come with advantages that aren't found with stand alone EHR systems. For example, users on Medcera sign up for free, don't pay any recurrent or maintenance fee, enjoy interoperability and seamless partnerships with other listed organizations, and also get advertised for free to users on the platform.

You should have a dedicated team to oversee the whole planning, decision making and implementation process. Do not just make decisions at the spur of the moment. Allow your team carry out an in depth market research and healthy comparisons before settling decisions. Whilst you could have more members without limits, your team should primarily comprise a lead physician, project manager and a lead superuser.
Lead Physician:
The lead physician’s role is to guide the organization through EHR implementation by serving as a link between the front line users of the system and the technical staff. Consider utilizing a tech-savvy physician who welcomes the new process as the lead physician.
Project Manager:
The project manager will become the main point of contact with the EHR vendor and staff. This position will also help everyone keep focused on implementation timelines, track progress and deal with user issues.
Lead Superuser:
This should be an in-house tech admin who is also an EHR expert. He would ensure technical standards are met, the user experience from the software accommodates the companies mode of operation without hitches and also make recommendations or corrections when necessary. He is a typical representative of the system users throughout the planning and implementation process
