The Bassa Concerned Youth hereby invites all sons and daughters of Bassa, community leaders, students, youth groups, traders, and concerned citizens to a peaceful protest/procession demanding urgent attention to the terrible state of roads within our communities.

For too long, our people have suffered from bad roads, neglected communities, and unfulfilled promises. The time has come for us to peacefully raise our voices and demand development, accountability, and safer roads for everyone.

Purpose of the Procession:

To demand immediate rehabilitation of roads in Bassa L.G.A.

To call the attention of government authorities to the suffering of the people.

To stand united for development and better living conditions.

To peacefully advocate for the rights of our communities.

We mourn the passing of His Royal Highness, Utu Paul Akusuk Ajijilek, the respected Village Head of Asinchit, whose life was marked by wisdom, unity, and selfless service. He was not only a traditional ruler but also a father figure who upheld culture, promoted peace, and led with dignity and compassion.

Beyond leadership, he was a dedicated teacher and lecturer, inspiring and mentoring many through his passion for education. His legacy of integrity, knowledge, and community development will continue to live on.

COAS LEADS HIGH-POWERED SECURITY ASSESSMENT TEAM TO PLATEAU, REAFFIRMS COMMITMENT TO LASTING PEACE

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, on Thursday, 2 April 2026, led heads of security agencies on an on-the-spot assessment of the security situation in Jos, Plateau State. The visit forms part of ongoing efforts to restore calm and entrench lasting peace across the state. Upon arrival, the COAS was received by the Executive Governor of Plateau State, His Excellency, Caleb Mutfwang, in a clear demonstration of strong civil-military cooperation and a shared commitment to addressing emerging security challenges.

During the visit, the COAS received a comprehensive operational briefing from the General Officer Commanding 3 Division and Commander, Joint Task Force Operation ENDURING PEACE, Major General Folusho Oyinlola. The briefing highlighted ongoing operations and proactive measures being implemented in synergy with other security agencies to contain threats, protect lives and property and stabilize affected communities.

As part of his engagements, Lieutenant General Shaibu also interacted with community leaders and residents, reassuring them of the unwavering commitment of the Nigerian Army to safeguarding all law-abiding citizens. He urged residents to remain calm, vigilant and supportive of security agencies by complying with the curfew and cooperating fully with ongoing operations and investigations, while going about their lawful activities.

The Chairman of Jos North Local Government Area, Hon. Barr. John Kyoroh Christopher, commended the COAS for the timely visit, noting that the presence of the nation’s top military leadership would boost public confidence and reinforce trust in ongoing security efforts. Similarly, the Councillor representing Naraguta ‘B’ Ward, Hon. Ladi Dangyok, expressed appreciation for the swift intervention, describing it as a strong reassurance to affected communities.

‎PLATEAU STATE GOVERNMENT RELAXES CURFEW IN JOS NORTH
‎
‎In light of the relative calm recorded after the recent violent attack on citizens of Angwan Rukuba in Jos North Local Government Area, the Plateau State Government, under the leadership of His Excellency, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, has announced the relaxation of the 48-hour curfew earlier imposed on the area.
‎
‎Effective from 1st April, 2026, the curfew will now be observed from 7am to 3pm. Residents are hereby permitted to carry out their lawful activities, within the stipulated hours.

‎The government urges citizens to remain calm, vigilant, and law-abiding as security agencies continue to monitor the situation to ensure sustained peace and order.

‎The Plateau State Government appreciates the cooperation and resilience of the public during this period and reiterates its commitment to the protection of lives and property across the state.
