Earlier this afternoon, I had the pleasure of addressing the press during the maiden edition of the monthly media briefing series by the Kano State Ministry for Public Procurement, Projects Monitoring and Evaluation. The aim of the briefing is to sufficiently keep the public informed on the strong commitment of His Excellency, Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf, the Executive Governor of Kano state in changing lives through infrstructure, social development and improved service delivery in Kano State.

I am delighted to share that during the period under review, His Excellency, Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf led administration has executed over 1500 developmental projects across the 44 Local Government Areas of Kano State with an estimated cumulative value of over ₦928 billion.

Out of the over 1500 projects, 799 have been completed, while 709 other projects are at various stages of completion, this is in addition to the 619 constituency projects being executed across the 44 local government areas of the state through the Honourable Members of the State House of Assembly.

The Ministry for Public Procurement, Projects Monitoring and Evaluation commends His Excellency Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf administration’s resolve to ensure distribution of projects across urban and rural communities, and more importantly it's emphasis on value for money, quality delivery, and measurable impact on the lives of the people. The broad scale of interventions is consistent with the State Government’s reported infrastructure priorities, including roads, urban renewal, utilities, transportation, security and social services.

MADUBIN AYYUKAN GWAMNATIN KANO

"Madubin Ayyukan Gwamnatin Kano" is a weekly public affairs program initiated by the Kano State Ministry for Public Procurement, Projects Monitoring and Evaluation (MPPPME) under the visionary leadership of the Honourable Commissioner, Comrade Nura Ma'aji Sumaila.

MPPPME Advances Collaborative Governance Through Bilateral Engagement with Kano State Accountant General

The Kano State Ministry for Public Procurement, Projects Monitoring and Evaluation (MPPPME) has continued its strategic bilateral engagements with key Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) across the state.

In furtherance of this initiative, the Ministry's delegation, led by the Honourable Commissioner, Comrade Nura Maaji Sumaila, paid a courtesy and working visit to the Office of the Kano State Accountant General to discuss critical issues relating to procurement procedures, project implementation, and financial accountability.

The MPPPME team comprised the Permanent Secretary, Engr. Garba Adamu; the Head of Planning Department, Bldr. Mas'ud Lado Saleh; the Director of Civil Infrastructure, Engr. Ibrahim Idris; and the Director of Building Infrastructure, Engr. Hassan Abubakar Kabara, alongside other senior officials of the Ministry.

Speaking during the engagement, the Honourable Commissioner, Comrade Nura Ma'aji Sumaila, highlighted the objectives of the visit, emphasizing the Ministry's resolve to foster stronger collaboration with key government institutions in order to enhance adherence to procurement laws, regulations, and due process requirements.

He noted that the engagement provided an opportunity to identify existing gaps in procurement practices across MDAs and departments, while also exploring practical measures to improve compliance, efficiency, and value for public expenditure.

The team further made detailed presentations on the essential requirements of guiding procurement activities, including contract ex*****on, project monitoring, direct labour procedures, documentation standards, and other statutory obligations necessary for ensuring transparency and accountability in government projects.

Discussions during the meeting focused on strengthening institutional coordination between MPPPME and the Office of the Accountant General, particularly in areas relating to financial management, project implementation, contract administration, and compliance with established procurement frameworks.

Responding, the Kano State Accountant General Hajiya Jamila Magaji Abdullahi expressed appreciation to the Ministry for the visit, describing the engagement as timely and highly beneficial.

She commended the proactive approach of MPPPME in promoting good governance and institutional synergy across government agencies.

The Accountant General reaffirmed her office's commitment to working closely with the Ministry to ensure strict compliance with procurement regulations and prudent management of public resources for the benefit of the people of Kano State.

The bilateral engagement forms part of MPPPME's broader strategy to deepen inter-agency collaboration, strengthen due process mechanisms, and promote effective service delivery through transparent and accountable procurement practices across Kano State.

MPPPME, Women Affairs Ministry Hold Strategic Talks on Inclusive Public Procurement

Yesterday, Friday 5th June, 2026, the Ministry for Public Procurement Projects Monitoring and Evaluation (MPPPME), Kano, received the Ministry for Women Affairs, Children and Persons with Special Needs on an advocacy visit aimed at strengthening inclusive public procurement practices across the state.

The visit, led by the Honorable Commissioner, Ministry for Women Affairs, Hajiya Amina Abdullahi Sani (popularly known as Amina HOD), sought to deepen inter-ministerial collaboration to ensure that public procurement processes become more inclusive, equitable, and responsive to the needs of women, children, and persons with special needs.

During the engagement, discussions focused on the development and institutionalization of frameworks that would enhance participation, accessibility, and fair opportunities for all stakeholders within government procurement systems.

Hajiya Amina Abdullahi Sani urged the MPPPME to adopt an Inclusive Procurement Policy, establish measurable implementation targets, and ensure adequate allocation of resources for effective ex*****on, monitoring, and evaluation.

She emphasized that embedding inclusivity principles into procurement processes is essential to preventing vulnerable groups from being excluded from public sector opportunities and development interventions.

In response, the MPPPME reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, accountability, and inclusive governance in line with the present administration’s development agenda.
The Ministry further assured continued collaboration with relevant stakeholders to strengthen monitoring systems that promote fairness, equity, and inclusivity in procurement practices.

The visit was widely regarded as a significant milestone in advancing inter-ministerial cooperation toward promoting social inclusion and sustainable development in Kano State.
