How best can you describe the array of military detachment that came around to effect the arrest and trial of Jesus in v. 12" It appears needless as He was prepared to lay down His life for the redemption of all that would believe in Him. Read v. 14 and point out how the statement of Caiaphas in this verse stands to fulfil the plan of God for our Lord Jesus Christ? God indeed works in mysterious ways and uses even evil gang- ups to perfect His purpose on earth. After Jesus' response to the High Priest's question, one of the temple guards slapped Him (vs.19-22) What do you think of his action? This is a common scene in our world where people in places of authority mo**st others without any regard to their fundamental rights. Jesus knew perfectly His mission on earth and kept fully to God's rule of defeating the enemy so that our salvation would be fully secured. When we consider the brevity of our time on earth, it is expected of us to conduct our lives in a way that heaven will be proud of us (2Pet 3.11).

Have you ever been betrayed by someone who is very close to you? How did you feel? Jesus had the same experience (vs.2&3). What do you notice about Jesus and the people who came to arrest Him from vs. 4-9? Jesus remained calm even at gun-point or life-threatening situation. What could have been the secret of this calm spirit in face of danger from vs.1.2 & 4' Jesus knew God's will concerning Him and also devoted tume regularly in having close communion with His Father (Mark1 35 Lk5 16, 6121 Let's learn to face our challenges with positive attitude nurtured through close communion with God. Think of it' The devil trembles when we live and speak the truth. What can we learn about this from v 6ΒΊ How is Peter like many of us my 10 Peter was carned away by the situation and ended up acting outside God's will. He thought by his physical power the battle could be won. He started tailing when he failed in the place of travailing in prayers in Matt. 26:40. To this, Jesus cautioned him to put away the sword. The arm of flesh will fail us We must learn to lean on God to wm all our battles in life

*πβοΈThe Righteous Judge*
Have you ever seen where a President of a country is visiting one of the states of that country? What and how is the preparation of such remarkable event likely going to be? Potholes on the roads/streets will receive immediate attention. Musicians will be invited, streets/major roads will be decorated with flowers and various cultural/ethnic groups will showcase their cultural/native attires to welcome Mr. President. Read the passage again and ponder carefully the dancing, singing, praising, rejoicing, shouting and clapping heralding the LORD, the King of kings in v.6 and compare with Rev 5:9-14. What lesson can we learn from here? It is reminding us about the coming king to rule His people. Jesus fulfilled this when He came to save us from our sins and He will come again to judge the world (v. 8). The second coming of Jesus is inevitable. How prepared are you? Note, He is not coming to die for sinners again but to judge them. Life is passing and eternity is real. Don't risk eternity for anything. The world and its pleasures will pass away. Check your life, what is your pursuit? What are you living for?
*Closing prayer:* Lord Jesus, please help me to live with eternity in view.

βοΈπ *The awesome God*
The presence of God gives the earth and the people living in it joy and peace v.1. Read vs. 2-5 again and examine critically the awesomeness of God. How does that affect your perception of God? He (God) is beyond what man can comprehend. When we meet God for worship, we shouldset aside the cares and preoccupations of everyday life. Use your ticon earth to make your life ready to meet this awesome God. Whatever darth is you from truly worshipping God is an idol (v.7). Mention all distus of images and idols people bow to today. Read Ex. 20:3-6 and point kinds of imaning and instruction as it relates to idol worship. What is the outcome of this act of worship according to v. 7a? God is righteous and just, and has no rival (vs.8-9). Every true child of God who loves Him must hate what He hates and love what He loves (v.10). See also Rom 12:9). When we do this, we will rejoice evermore in the Lord (vs.11&12).

πβοΈ *God is worthy of Praise*
Read the passage again. How would you describe the state of the heart of the Psalmist here? The writer was overwhelmed by all that God has done, God deserves true and sincere worship from us (v.1). It is godly to tell others what God has done for you (v.3). It is part of evangelism or witnessing. Witnessing comes naturally when our hearts are full of appreciation for what God has done in our lives. There are many young people today who have never spoken to someone about Jesus and His glorious deeds. This is not a good way of life for believers. Giving is part of Christian worship (v.8). God deserves heart-felt appreciation. Read vs. 9-13 again. God will judge all people for their actions. How well are you doing by telling others about God's glorious deeds? God is coming to judge the carth (v.13), are you ready?

πβοΈ *The Rock of our salvation*
Those who know God come to Him with hearts full of praise and worship (vs1&2). This involves extoling Him through music, songs and living out Christ-like life for Him. Read vs. 3-5 again and point out the attributes of God that the psalmist mentioned here. Our God has no equal. He is supreme. We must worship Him with reverence and respect (v.6). God is not only caring and compassionate but He is angry with sinners (v.7-11). Why? Their hearts have become hardened and turned away from following His instructions (v.10). Are you stubborn? We must stay away from such tendencies of dishonouring God in our lives and conduct, to avoid missing His joy here on earth and in eternity. You need Jesus the Rock of our salvation. That is why He died for you. He is meek and ready to welcome you!

πβοΈ *The Lord will avenge*
Evil seems to be on the increase on daily basis, man's inhumanity against his fellow man is on the rise. This wickedness faced by Israel in the hands of oppressors made the Psalmist to cry to God to show Himself. How is the Lord described in vs. 1&2? Vengeance belongs to the Lord God and He is the Judge of the whole earth. None is above His control. His judgement is just and cannot be appealed against in any other court. This should make us to shun wicked acts against others. Read vs.3-7 again and note the ways of the senseless that we should avoid. If such negative traits are in you, change now and become wise as recommended in v.8. Know it that God hears, sees and knows everything that goes on in the earth, including your thoughts. The only way of living right is to submit yourself to God's mercy and teachings. This is the way to be saved from the judgement reserved for the wicked (v. 13). Read 2 Pet.2:9.

βοΈπ *Seek divine understanding*
Understanding does not come easily. It originates from getting enlightenment from the true source of knowledge What can we learn from vs.15&16 on the Psalmist's quest to understand the ways of the ungodly" Man's understanding is limited and will end in frustration and confusion. Read v 17 and write in your notebook where he was able to get proper understanding of things. His confusion was settled at the Sanctuary, which represents the dwelling place presence of the Lord God. It is to our own good that we seek God's presence regularly through Bible reading, meditation, praying and attending fellowships/services. Read vs. 18-20, and list out the things the presence of God enabled him to understand about the ungodly. He was able to understand the pitiable state of the ungodly, and this led him to turn his heart to God in repentance (vs.21&22). He also strengthened himself in the Lord and promised to always listen to God's counsel (vs 23-28) Make it your delight to always get clarity in God's presence.
