Life after diagnosis
After being diagnosed with any chronic illness, it can be extremely difficult to process, as it presents a whole new set of concerns. It can bring up a flood of difficult emotions like shock, disbelief, confusion, fear, sadness, denial and anger. A Hero's diagnosis can alter the rhythms of his/her life, affecting everything.
They will experience changes from what and how they eat to where and how they go out.
Let's review the considerations about a few things that can make the Hero's treatment journey a little easier.
Take one day at a time:
Dealing with the news can be a lot of mental overwhelming. Managing your normal lifestyle, but at the same time, being open to necessary changes and modifications, is important.
Improving lifestyle:
Improving your lifestyle can help manage stress resulting from the disease and its treatment. Enough rest and sleep and a nutritious diet help improve lifestyle.
Engaging in mild physical exercises approved by your medical professional can help improve energy levels as well as your mood
Communicate with your loved ones:
Open communication and expressing emotions honestly can help you find strength. Also, be open to accepting help and assistance.
Lastly, seek professional support and talk to people with the same illness

Insomnia and Depression
Insomnia is a common sleep disorder that can make it hard to fall asleep, or cause you to wake up too early and be unable to get back to sleep.
Insomnia is rarely an isolated medical or mental illness but rather a symptom of another illness to be investigated by a medical doctor.
Most cases of insomnia are related to poor sleeping habits, depression, anxiety, lack of exercise, chronic illness or certain medication.
Some symptoms are difficulty falling or staying asleep and not feeling well-rested.
Treatment for insomnia consists of improving sleep habits, behaviour therapy and identifying and treating underlying causes. Sleeping pills may also be used but should be monitored for side effects.
