Prince Jide Kosoko is set to bring the compelling story of Lagos’ rich history to life with the production of Esugbayi Eleko.
This film promises to be a cinematic exploration of the pivotal events that shaped colonial Lagos, blending drama, history, and cultural pride in a way never seen before.
The film focuses on the life and times of Oba Esugbayi Eleko, Herbert Macaulay and Alimotu Pelewura, some of Lagos’ most iconic figures in colonial Lagos and the absolute support and loyalty of the Idejos to the cause spareheaded by Oba Eleko.
Set in the early 19th century, Esugbayi Eleko delves into the challenges of Oba Esugbayi’s reign during the colonial era, his resistance, alongside Macaulay and Pelewura against British imperialism, and the cultural resilience of the people of Lagos.
Audiences will be transported to a Lagos colony grappling with the intersection of tradition and modernity, as well as the political struggles that defined an era.
The movie captures not just the story of a man but the heart and soul of a people fighting for their identity.
What makes this project even more significant is that it is spearheaded by Prince Jide Kosoko, himself a Lagosian and a descendant of royalty.
As a Prince of Lagos, Kosoko’s personal connection to the city’s history adds an unparalleled depth and authenticity to the storytelling.
“I have always dreamed of bringing the story of Lagos to the screen in a way that does justice to its complexity and grandeur,” Kosoko said during a press conference. “Oba Esugbayi Eleko was not just a king; he was a symbol of resistance, wisdom, and cultural preservation, these he did with his alliance with Macaulay, a prominent Lagosian and nationalist and Pelewura, one of the most enigmatic market women leaders in history. This story deserves to be told, and it’s a privilege to bring it to life as someone who shares in this heritage.”
Esugbayi Eleko will be one of the first major films to authentically portray part of the history of Lagos and the significant events of the colonial era.
Unlike most historical movies that rely on generalized narratives, this production is rooted in meticulous research and deep cultural insights, offering a vivid retelling of key moments that shaped the city’s identity.
Kosoko’s production team has announced that the film will feature some of the best technical hands in the industry.

Aunty Ramota’s pregnancy and Ijoba Lande’s bold declaration of being the man behind the surprising turn of events, a fresh and unsettling update has emerged from the duo.
Ijoba Lande, now a man caught between pride and palpable anxiety, opened up about unsettling changes he’s noticed in Aunty Ramota’s growing belly.
Speaking with an air of unease, Lande spilled how their intimate encounter unfolded, hinting at moments that led to the unexpected pregnancy.
Ijoba Lande, the outspoken manager and self-proclaimed baby daddy of popular Nigerian actress Aunty Ramota, has once again ignited public curiosity by sharing his growing concerns about her pregnancy.
Their unfolding story, already riddled with shock and mystery, has taken a deeper turn with new revelations that raise questions about the state of both mother and unborn child.
It all began when Aunty Ramota shattered the internet with her confirmation of the long-suspected pregnancy rumors. This revelation was swiftly followed by Ijoba Lande’s bold admission of responsibility, cementing himself as the man behind the unexpected twist in her life.
Fans have since been glued to every update, but their latest clinic visit unveiled an entirely new layer to the saga.
In a candid moment captured during the visit, Ijoba Lande, sitting protectively by Aunty Ramota’s side, couldn’t mask his worry. With her protruding belly in full view, he raised pressing concerns to the doctor.
He noted with visible distress that the baby had not been moving as expected and the pregnancy didn’t appear to be progressing as it should. Adding to his unease, he shared how Aunty Ramota’s excessive sleeping habits in recent weeks had left him anxious about her health and the baby’s well-being.
The doctor, maintaining a calm demeanor, reassured the visibly shaken Ijoba that these were normal signs of late-stage pregnancy. He confidently stated that both mother and child were in good health and dismissed Lande’s fears as part of the natural course of motherhood.
True to his boisterous personality, Ijoba couldn’t resist teasing Aunty Ramota during their conversation. He playfully remarked on her silence throughout the clinic visit, attributing it to exhaustion from their private escapades that led to the pregnancy.
