Most of us do not really understand the real meaning of 'purchasing power', little wonder why a fresh corp member says she prefers Tinubu to Obi. It is within your prerogative to like and support a candidate. However, telling me that your preference is based on the fact that Obi is stingy, sounds quite preposterous to me.

Back to the crux of the matter, 'Purchasing power'. Let us do a simple mathematics to understand the true meaning of 'Stingy'.

Generous Tinubu increased minimum wage to ₦70000
A bag of cement is currently ₦15000
(₦70k÷₦15k=4.6bags) roughly 4½bags

A bag of local rice is ₦45k(70k÷45k=1.5bags) roughly 1½bags.
(I don't want to talk about house rent😂)

Under Goodluck, minimum wage was ₦19000
A bag of cement was between 1500 to 2000.
(₦19k÷2k=9.5bags) Roughly 9½bags.

A bag of local rice was ₦8000.
(19k÷8k=2.3bags) Roughly 2⅓bags of rice.

So between the two Presidents who was paying more minimum wage?

Peter Obi understands these simple economic principles, Tinubu doesn't. So I'll choose a stingy Obi over a generous Tinubu.

An obvious symptom of a failed system.

A good leader is a beacon of hope and succour to his people, not a weakling whose advice further shows how gleam the future looks.

As an adult, imagine going back to your parents who are probably looking up to you for support.

Are parents not faced with the same hike in house rents?

Which team is funnier?

I miss the recent era of urgent 2k.

2k used to be useful. It gave both the benefactor and beneficiary an urgent sense of relief. It was almost easy for the benefactor to afford, and it solved an important urgent problem for the beneficiary.

What was more? A benefactor could use 10k to solve five different urgent problems for five different beneficiaries who were urgently in need of urgent 2k. And it gave him a tingling sense of pride to have urgently solved his friends' urgent problems.

But now?

The benefactor, instead of that tingling sense of relief, feels rather perplexed, sometimes even ashamed to give out an urgent 2k. Not because he doesn't want to give, but because urgent 2k can no longer solve urgent problems. He sees urgent 2k as an urgent worthlessness. (And this era of urgent 2k was just recently, so the benefactor hasn't even had enough financial improvement to enable him increase this urgent amount)

These days, even an urgent 20k can hardly solve five urgent problems. So the prevailing economic situation has raised the bar for both the benefactor and the beneficiary. While it increased the pressure for the benefactor to render an urgent help, it reduced the probability of a beneficiary to get an urgent help.

What is worse?
Urgent beneficiaries now have higher urgent needs, not by their own design, but because of the current prevailing economic situation.

Both the benefactor and the beneficiary are in a big mess that needs an urgent solution.
