No one gains anything by attempting to demonize Islam or attach negative labels to it. Despite decades of misinformation and fabricated narratives aimed at tarnishing the image of Muslims, Islam continues to grow across the world. Even in Europe, many people are embracing Islam because they find in it a message of faith, justice, compassion, and humanity.

Islam is not the creation of Muslims; it is the religion of Allah. Allah Himself has promised to preserve and protect it, regardless of the actions of its followers.

Since the colonial era, when many Yoruba Muslims were pressured to abandon their faith in exchange for access to Western style education, Muslims have largely responded with patience and perseverance. Even in more recent times, when issues such as the hijab generated controversy, the preferred path was lawful engagement through the courts rather than violence or confrontation.

Yoruba Muslims have a long standing reputation for peaceful coexistence and respect for others. There is no history of organized religious violence by Yoruba Muslims. Unfortunately, some individuals with hidden agendas continue to spread false narratives and cast Muslims in a negative light.

We urge the government and relevant authorities to act responsibly, address security concerns objectively, and prevent the politicization or religious manipulation of sensitive issues before they escalate into unnecessary tension and conflict.
