WORLD MENSTRUAL HYGIENE DAY 2026: PAD ME A GIRL EMPOWERMENT FOUNDATION CHAMPIONS THE FIGHT AGAINST PERIOD POVERTY

The Pad Me A Girl Empowerment Foundation marked World Menstrual Hygiene Day 2026 at Isolog College, Akute, Ogun State, on 3rd June, 2026 under the theme: “The Pad Bank Movement: Ending Period Poverty Together.”

The event brought together students, educators, partners, and stakeholders to promote menstrual health awareness and advocate for sustainable solutions to period poverty.

Speaking at the event, the Founder, Theresa Moses, reaffirmed that menstruation is a natural biological process that should never stop any girl from accessing education, dignity, or opportunity.

She highlighted that period poverty remains a major challenge affecting many girls across Nigeria, leading to school absenteeism, low confidence, and health risks due to lack of access to sanitary products and proper information.

She emphasized the Pad Bank Movement as a sustainable solution designed to ensure girls have access to sanitary products whenever needed—promoting dignity, confidence, and inclusion.

The Foundation is proud to have impacted over 10,000 girls and women through menstrual health education, pad distribution, advocacy, and empowerment programmes across Nigeria.

A key highlight of the event was an enlightening session by Mrs. Amina Omoike, a media expert and life coach who educated students on menstrual health, self-esteem, and breaking myths and stigma around menstruation.

As part of the outreach, the Foundation also distributed free sanitary pads and educational materials to support students’ menstrual health and hygiene needs.

The foundation sincerely appreciate its partners and sponsors' support made this impactful programme possible:

WORLD MENSTRUAL HYGIENE DAY 2026: TOGETHER, WE CAN END PERIOD POVERTY

On Wednesday, June 3, 2026, the Pad Me A Girl Empowerment Foundation commemorated World Menstrual Hygiene Day at Isolog College, Akute, Ogun State, under the theme: "The Pad Bank Movement: Ending Period Poverty Together."

The event provided an important platform to educate, empower, and inspire young girls while advocating for sustainable solutions to period poverty.

As Founder of Pad Me A Girl Empowerment Foundation, I reiterated our commitment to ensuring that no girl is denied education, dignity, confidence, or opportunity because of menstruation.

Period poverty remains a reality for thousands of girls who struggle to access sanitary products, menstrual health information, and supportive environments. This challenge affects school attendance, self-esteem, health, and overall well-being.

This is why we established the Pad Bank Movement; a sustainable initiative designed to ensure that girls have access to menstrual products whenever they need them. The Pad Bank is more than a place where sanitary pads are stored; it is a symbol of dignity, hope, inclusion, and empowerment.

I am proud to share that through our advocacy, menstrual health education programmes, pad distribution campaigns, and community outreaches, the Pad Me A Girl Empowerment Foundation has reached and impacted over 10,000 girls and women across schools, rural communities, and underserved areas in Nigeria.

One of the highlights of the event was an inspiring session by Mrs. Amina Omoike, media expert and life coach, who spoke on "Ending Period Poverty Together." She encouraged the girls to reject harmful myths about menstruation and reminded them that their periods should never stop them from pursuing their dreams.

The event would not have been possible without the support of our amazing partners and sponsors.

We sincerely appreciate ProStar Sports International, led by Ambassador Paul Maduakor, for providing customized jerseys for our volunteers and team members. ProStar continues to demonstrate that Nigerian brands can deliver world-class products while investing in youth development and social impact initiatives.

Our gratitude also goes to BL Consulting for supporting this important cause. Their commitment to business excellence and community development continues to make a positive difference.

We equally appreciate Vitabaites Foods for their generous support and contribution to the success of the programme.

Special thanks to our media partners for consistently amplifying our message and helping us break the silence around menstruation and period poverty.

We are grateful to the management, staff, and students of Isolog College, Akute, for hosting us and embracing the message of menstrual health and girls' empowerment.

Ending period poverty is not the responsibility of one organization alone. It requires governments, schools, parents, corporate organizations, community leaders, development partners, the media, and individuals to work together.

Every pad donated.
Every Pad Bank established.
Every girl educated.
Every stigma challenged.

Brings us one step closer to a future where no girl is left behind because of her period.

Thank you to everyone who continues to support the Pad Me A Girl Movement.

Together, we will continue to empower girls, promote dignity, and transform futures.

💜 Support a Pad Bank.
💜 Support a Girl.
💜 End Period Poverty.
