Some projects you work on. Others become reminders of why you love what you do. I’m thrilled to finally share The Trials of the Spear – English Extended Cut, a project I had the privilege of serving as Casting Director.

One of the most rewarding parts of this journey was bringing together a Nigerian voice cast that could do more than simply deliver lines. We needed voices that could carry the emotion, personality, cultural texture and spirit of the characters, and this incredible cast showed up.

Hearing the final performances come together has been deeply fulfilling. There’s something powerful about watching animation created across cultures and then hearing Nigerian performers give it a distinctly African vocal identity.

This Extended Cut also gives audiences the opportunity to experience more of the story, with scenes that were not included in the Japanese version.

To the creative team : + thank you for the opportunity to contribute to this journey.

To the cast: thank you for trusting the process and bringing your artistry to the characters.

Sometimes, the most powerful stories are the ones we already know… told through a voice we haven’t heard before.

I stepped into the story of the woman with the issue of blood, not just to tell what happened, but to imagine what she deeply felt.

The pain. The desperation. The faith.
And finally… the moment she heard, “Pikin.”

I chose to tell her story in Nigerian Pidgin because our African languages carry a rhythm, intimacy and humanity that can make ancient stories feel incredibly close to home.

I’m grateful for the opportunity to lend my voice to the ABS auditions. 🙏🏽✨🎭
