THE POWERFUL HISTORY OF ONITSHA ADO KINGDOM

Long before modern Nigeria existed, the great city of Onitsha was already a powerful kingdom known as Onitsha Ado N’Idu.
The story begins many centuries ago in the mighty Benin Kingdom in present-day Benin City.
According to tradition, a royal prince named Ezechima left Benin with his followers after a conflict in the royal palace. He traveled across forests and rivers searching for a new land where his people could live in peace.
After a long journey, his descendants finally settled on the eastern bank of the great Niger River.
That settlement later became Onitsha.
Because they came from the Benin royal lineage, they brought with them a strong system of kingship. This is why the traditional ruler of Onitsha is called the Obi of Onitsha, one of the most respected traditional thrones in Igbo land.
Over time, Onitsha became one of the biggest trading centers in West Africa because of its location on the Niger River. Traders from many regions came to exchange goods like palm oil, fish, cloth, and food.
Today, Onitsha Main Market is known as one of the largest markets in Africa, continuing the trading legacy of the kingdom.
The kingdom still celebrates its culture through the famous Ofala Festival, where the king appears in royal regalia and the entire city celebrates with music, dance, and tradition.
The current king is Nnaemeka Alfred Achebe, the respected Obi of Onitsha, who continues to protect the traditions of the kingdom.
From royal migration to becoming one of the greatest commercial cities in Nigeria — the story of Onitsha is a story of strength, culture, and destiny.

THE NIGHT MY BROTHER CAME BACK FROM THE DEAD – Episode 1

I still remember the night everything changed in my life.

It was around 11:45 pm. The whole compound was quiet. Power had gone out, and the only light in my room was from my phone.

I was about to sleep when I suddenly heard three slow knocks on my door.

Knock… knock… knock.

At first I ignored it. Nobody visits that late where I live.

But then the knocking came again.

Louder this time.

My heart started beating fast. I checked the window and looked outside, but everywhere was dark.

I slowly walked to the door and asked,
“Who is there?”

For a few seconds, there was silence.

Then a voice answered from outside.

A voice I had not heard for seven years.

The voice said quietly:

“Open the door… it’s me.”

My whole body froze.

Because the voice sounded exactly like my brother Chinedu…

The same brother we buried seven years ago.

I stood there shaking, staring at the door.

Then the voice spoke again.

“Brother… please open. I don’t have much time.”

At that moment, I realized something was terribly wrong.

Because before my brother died seven years ago…

He told me something I have never told anyone.

And the person outside the door just repeated the exact same words.

I slowly placed my hand on the door handle…
