FACTORS THAT NEGATIVELY SHAPED AFRICAN PSYCHOLOGY.

One of the factors that negatively shaped African Psychology is the influence of SUPERSTITION. This is the greatest factor that inhibits progress thinking among Africans. It seems to be in-built in our psychic make-up and debars us from checking out for alternative. For instance, once we cannot reason out an objective reality for an occurrence, we tend to attribute spiritual meaning that make such occurrences supernatural and out of our control. For instance, if an African goes to a river and finds a very big snake, crocodile or even tortoise at the bank of the river, (for more than two occasions) he or she sees it as a deity or god of the river.
