Soap is a cleansing agent created by the chemical reaction of fatty acid with an alkali metal hydroxide. Chemically speaking, soap is a salt composed of alkali metal, such as sodium or potassium, and a mixture of “fatty” carboxylic acids.

Soap is designed to lather-up and create a foam texture.
This should be your first warning sign that you should not be washing your face with soap.
No product should “foam” on your face.
The optimal pH value of skin on most of our face and body lies between 4.7 and 5.75. A pH of 7 (that of pure water) is considered neutral. Anything below that is acidic and above it alkaline, so skin's natural pH is mildly acidic.

Now, in order for a product to foam, you need a surfactant. This can push your skin to an alkaline pH there by disrupting it's natural balanced state.

The foaming agents strip your skin of it's natural oil and leave it dry and irritated.Washing your face with soap can leave it looking wrinkled, haggard, and dull. The chemicals present in it may be useful in cleansing your body but certainly not the face.
