Most people celebrate the resurrection without ever understanding why it required a cross.

We post about the empty tomb but are less interested in what it cost to get there.

That’s not just an Easter problem. That’s a human problem.

Blockbuster the former movie rental giant had every advantage. Capital. Brand. Distribution. A loyal customer base.

When the market shifted, they had a choice: pay the price of reinvention, or protect what was comfortable.
They chose comfort. Netflix chose the harder road unlike Blockbuster wanted peace. And we know how it ended.

King David named it clearly in Psalm 18:34:
“He trains my hands for battle; my arms can bend a bow of bronze.”

God trained David. Through difficulty. Through seasons that made no sense. Through a process that looked nothing like the destination. God did not skip the process! He designed it!

Which brings us back to Easter.
The Father did not spare His own Son from hardship. Jesus walked through rejection, suffering, and the cross. That was not an interruption to the plan. It was the plan!
And then - resurrection.

Because Christ endured what He endured, we are forgiven. Forever, we interact and stand before God not on the basis of our performance, but on the basis of what Christ accomplished through suffering and triumph. This is the heart of the “too-good-to-be-true” news of the Gospel!

The Gospel doesn’t promise a life without the bow. It promises the strength to bend it - and a Saviour who already bent the hardest one on our behalf.
The same pattern that saved you is the pattern that will shape you.

We accept this logic everywhere else. Building a business is hard. A good marriage is hard. Raising family is hard. No one argues with this.

But spiritually, we want a shortcut.
We want God to bless us without building us.

Two questions worth sitting with this Easter:

1. What have you done in your career, your business- that required embracing real pain to achieve something real?

2. Have you ever brought that same intensity to God?

Many people we consider spiritual giants didn’t choose their hardship. It was forced on them. They leaned in anyway. And it made them different.
But what if you volunteered for it?

What if this Easter, instead of just celebrating the empty tomb, you said yes to the process that produces resurrection in your own life?

I bless you with eyes to see and a heart to dream who you could be if you pursued God at the same level our culture pursues lesser things like money, profit or influence.
