Chapter 4: The Unseen Life

For weeks, the silence was deafening. Elara opened the bakery plans alone. Lyra painted furiously in isolation. They walked different streets, ate in different diners, their hearts heavy with spite and emptiness.

One rainy afternoon, Lyra, determined to win the "prize," waited for Caspian outside his office. She saw him climb into a vintage car not alone, but with a tall, silver haired woman, clearly his long term partner, laughing easily as he drove away.

The next day, Elara, needing validation, found Caspian at the park café. She cornered him, asking why he never called.

Caspian looked surprised, a slight frown creasing his brow. "Oh, Elara. You and Lyra are wonderful friends. I truly value your creative input. I’m quite committed to my fiancée, but thank you for the wonderful company.

He smiled politely and returned to his architectural drawings, his world completely separate from the emotional turmoil he had unwittingly caused. to fix their broken bond.

Chapter 3: The Tangled Thread

The unspoken rivalry for Caspian's attention quickly poisoned the girls' friendship. Their conversations turned cold, filled with petty insults: Elara accused Lyra of being “desperate," and Lyra called Elara a "boring librarian.

The tension snapped at a gallery opening. Lyra saw Elara follow Caspian and, shaking with adrenaline, spun her around. "Stop hovering.Lyra hissed. Elara retaliated, claiming Caspian preferred her "substance over flash." In the ensuing struggle, Lyra violently wrenched her arm away.

The movement snapped the delicate golden thread on Elara’s wrist. The sound of the break was shockingly loud in the sudden silence.

They immediately turned their backs on each other, leaving their friendship shattered in a public, horrifying moment.
