Many years ago, there was a sister in church who created a fellowship and named it Covenant Sisters. She was one of those rare people you meet once, and something inside you rearranges forever. The fellowship grew quickly. At a point, over two hundred people were attending in real time. This was around 2017.
Each time she picked up the microphone to preach or pray, there was fireeee. The kind that burns without trying to impress. What amazed me the most was that she was still a student. Young. Unmarried. While many of us were already married with children, she burned with a depth that made you ask questions. I used to look at her and wonder How can a young girl carry this much fire for God?
Then life happened.Suddenly, we heard the news. Her parents both her mother and her father were involved in a very deadlyy accidentttg. Gone. Just like that. She was their only child. Her story was not neat. Not palatable. Not the kind you tell easily. But that is not even the message.
She stopped coming for fellowship. She stopped everything.
That day, I called myself and two other coordinators. I was the music coordinator at the time. I said, Let us go and see her.We went.
When we met her, she was broken in a way that silencee alone could explain. And then she said words that many believers think but are afraid to say out loud. She said God had forsaken her. She said He had made a mockery of her life. That she had served Him, led people to Him, burneddd for Him and now, in her final year, when she was almost done, He took the only people she had.
She kept saying, Look at my life. Nothing to show for it.”
I remember saying one thing with conviction, not because I understood everything, but because I trusted God beyond understanding. The expectation of the righteous shall not be cut short. Even if this journey of schooling has been interrupted, it will not interrupt your destiny. God did not call the house of Jacob to seek Him in vain. He does not lie. He does not promise and abandon.”
I told her something else, God sees what you cannot see. He hears conversations you are not part of. He sees the end from the beginning. No matter how close you are to Him, you still cannot see tomorrow. But the God you held tightly do not let go of Him now. You still need Him for the rest of the journey.”
We cried together. And then we left.
Today, that same girl is the most successful among all of us. Among peers before her, peers after her, peers around her. She is no longer in Nigeria. She is globally recognized as I speak to you now.
Why am I sharing this?
Because someone reading this is tired of praying with no visible answers. Someone is asking quietly, Why is God silent over this business?” “Why is this relationship delayed?” “Why is the child not coming yet?”
I want you to lift your eyes higher.
God is not denying you He is redirecting you.
He is not saying no He is saying not now.
Sometimes He is not punishing you He is protecting you from a future you cannot see.
God cannot say “Go into the world and multiply” and forget you.
He cannot ask you to seek first the Kingdom and abandon you halfway.
If He has not added it yet, it does not mean He will not add it.
It means timing is also part of the promise.
You may not have the car.
You may not have the house.
But look again look deeply.
You are not the same person you were ten years ago.
Some things that would have destroyeddd you then, you now survive. That is growth.
That is God’s hand working quietly.
You are judging God from your lens, but God is working from His.
I don’t know who this is for, but hear me
God’s plan for your life may not look like your plan.
His timing may offend your patience. But He is faithful.
Do not leave the place of God because of mockery.
Do not abandon the only Friend who cannot betray you.
At the end of it all, He remains the most trusted Father, the most trusted Friend, the most trusted Lover you will ever have.
And I pray for you today
that your life will become a testimony so loud
that people will believe God again because of you.
May your story restore faith.
May your rising silence mockery.
Amen 🙏
He learnt the hard way.
