The 2025 World Environmental Health Day, reminds us that fighting air pollution and indiscriminate waste disposal is about safeguarding the environment, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and ensuring clean air, to achieve the health of the people, and a sustainable future for generations to come. We all have a role to play as governments and individuals.

It was truly a heartfelt moment for us as professionals to come together and celebrate our collective efforts. Even if it didn’t get to everyone, we want you to know how much we value and appreciate your contributions that made today a success.
Though the 2025 World Environmental Health Day event may have faced some challenges, it has provided us with valuable lessons that will help us improve going forward.
It was wonderful to see our senior citizens among us, whose presence adds warmth and wisdom to our gathering. To all the officers and awardees, your support and time mean so much to us—thank you for being here.
A special shoutout goes to the working committee led by San. Akereka Barikpe; your hard work and dedication have truly shone through.
We are grateful to everyone who played a part in making the 2025 WEHD event memorable. May we all feel blessed and strengthened to move EHOAN Rivers STATE Chapter forward together.

PRO EHOAN RVS CHAPTER
On 26 September, the EHOAN Rivers State chapter, under the leadership of President San. Ofor Samuel Ukeame, proudly joined the global community to observe World Environmental Health Day, focusing on the theme “Clean Air, Healthy People.” This day served as a powerful reminder of the vital link between environmental protection and human health.
Clean air is not just desirable; it is essential for our well-being. Polluted air wreaks havoc on our bodies, harming every organ and resulting in premature deaths, heart disease, cancer, and respiratory illnesses. The World Health Organization (WHO) emphasizes that air pollution contributes to millions of premature deaths each year and recognizes our inherent human right to clean air. The primary culprits behind this pollution—vehicle emissions, industrial processes, and household air pollution from cooking and waste burning—must be addressed. By embracing cleaner energy, improved transportation, and effective waste management, we can significantly enhance public health and prevent disease.
Remember, prevention is not just preferable; it's also more cost-effective than treatment.
