Longevity is basically how long your perfume sticks around. Imagine spraying your scent in the morning before work, will it still be hugging you by lunchtime, or will it ghost you after an hour?

Some perfumes are like loyal friends who stay till the end of the party; others are like friends who leave early. That’s what we call longevity.

Sillage (pronounced see-yazh) is the trail your perfume leaves behind. Think of walking into a room and leaving a subtle “Hello, I’m here” in the air. It’s why people in the next room sometimes know you passed by… even if they didn’t see you.

Projection is how far your perfume reaches around you. Picture spraying a perfume in the morning, can the person beside you or across the room smell it without you leaning over? That’s projection.

At the end of the day, your perfume is like your invisible outfit: it tells a story, sets the mood, and even turns heads… all without you saying a word. 💛❤️🔥

AFTER I BOUGHT PERFUME WITH MY MONEY....

That was the response my sister gave me after I posted a video on WhatsApp about macerating perfumes.

The lady in the video advised that if you get a perfume and you don’t like it at first spray, spray about 20 full pumps, let some air enter, then keep it for about three weeks to a month and try again. If you still don’t like it… then it’s not for you.

I laughed so hard at her response because the fear was real. 😭

She was like, “So after I’ve spent my money, you’re now telling me to start experimenting? To spray 20 times? In this economy?”

I get it.
Nobody wants to feel like they made a wrong choice. Especially when it comes to something you bought with intention and your own money. You want that first spray to make you fell like "Yes, this is my scent".

But here’s the thing… perfumes are a little like people. Some introduce themselves gently. Some need time to settle. Some change as they breathe.

And sometimes, what you smell at first isn’t the full story.

Macerating isn’t about wasting your perfume. It’s about allowing it mature properly. Oxygen helps the oils blend better over time, and the scent can become smoother, deeper, more balanced.

But if you’ve ever bought a perfume and felt unsure at first spray, don’t give up immediately. Give it time. Test it again later. And if after all that it still doesn’t work for you...

Some scents just aren’t yours. And that’s okay.

Scent of the Day ✨

So yesterday evening, I went to get some perfumes and saw these ones. Honestly, I wasn’t too sure about them, so I didn’t buy any. But I sprayed one just to test the scent and kept checking it throughout the evening.

Guess what? By the time I got home (a few minutes past 7 pm), the scent was still there.
I even had my bath… and the fragrance was still noticeable, just a bit lighter.

Genie perfumes are really nice and strong. They keep proving this every time.

Funny enough, the fragrances actually smell like oil perfumes (for example, Oud Maracujá), so you’re getting that rich oil-perfume quality in a perfume bottle for a lesser price. ☺️
