Sometimes we wonder why people we think we are better than are doing better than we are.

If you were shown the amount of work they were putting in, you wouldn't question again.
That you are simply smart will not pave any way for you if you don't build skills and work hard.

Remember the story of the fox and the tortoise.

If you don't put in consistent effort, you will keep questioning why things are not working well for you.
The world owes you nothing, whatever you put in is what you get out of life...

If you do not believe in yourself, success will seem impossible.

Believing in yourself makes success inevitable.

If many candles are lit, the room gets a lot brighter.
If one goes off, the illumination decreases.

Putting off someone's light won't make yours grow brighter.

Someone's burning flame should never make you look down on yourself, disregard your hardwork, or envy them.
Rather, it should be an avenue for you to tap from them and appreciate their shine.

Don't plot the downfall of a person because they reached a destination before you did, it won't make you reach yours faster, rather it burns the energy you would have invested in growing.

Ask God for directions and guidance and stay on your path while investing in growth and trusting God along the way.

It is only a matter of time, yours will come.

Stop expecting so much from people.
The ones closest to you may not understand your journey.

I've had to tell some people my aspirations and even tried to carry them along and most times all I get is

'forget this, it won't work'
'this opportunity is for people with connections oh, no need to waste your time'
'dont bother, this is Nigeria, just change direction'

Often times, your 'friends' won't buy into that business/career idea and it's okay.
Your dreams might be too big for them to comprehend. Some people may try to discourage you simply because they can't see themselves achieving such things.

It may not be from a place of jealousy or envy, don't get me wrong. Circumstances and their personal experiences might have shaped their opinions and the way they see things. But everyone's reality isn't the same.

Most of my great connections and help have come from strangers (who often turn friends) I met online and from networking spaces, not necessarily close friends.

However, do not let anyone make you believe that you cannot achieve something simply because they think you cannot or because they haven't been able to do it.

Your dreams are valid, your path is different from theirs, and your goals are not too big.
You are your greatest encouragement. Don't let people's experiences deter you from pursuing your dreams. Learn from them and note the things they didn't do right. Most especially, move towards people on the same path as you.

If you are in the medical field and your friend is an artist, you two may not have so much to share in terms of career, but it doesn't mean you're not supposed to be friends.
Just don't let their experiences in their own field determine how you pursue your own goals. Encourage each other but seek to make meaningful connections with those in your field.

Not everyone is your friend, learn to use appropriate terms for people like colleagues, school mate, team member, neighbor, old classmates etc. If the person you call 'friend' is always discouraging and criticizing anything you venture in without providing solutions or advice, run for your life. But ensure you are also a good friend to your friends..
