Beauty of The Gen Z is in their Creative Minds

I was forming a shawarma wrap with my plantain flour when my little one, watching quietly from a corner of the kitchen, suggested we try using garri to make the wrap.
At first, it sounded funny… almost impossible. But I dared to try it—and with a little chicken fat to soften the hardness, we ended up with a unique, edible wrapper!
This playful moment reminded me of the incredible creative potential of young people and how much they could achieve if we get them involved early in farming and agro-innovation.

As a clinical psychologist for children and young people, I speak in schools and training programs to show students the importance and dignity in labour, while teaching them that growing their food is just as vital as growing their knowledge.
Through initiatives like Agro-Innovators Day, embedded in school systems, exposing students to practical farming, entrepreneurship, and innovation.

The goal is simple: equip them with the skills, mindset, and confidence to become tomorrow’s agro-Innovators and change-makers.

-Innovators

On my way back from the farm today, leadership found me in a commercial bus.

I stopped a vehicle and we couldn’t agree on the fare. The driver drove off.

Just as he was about to leave, I saw another passenger with a heavy load heading in the same direction. I called the driver back and told him someone else was going his way. He stopped and picked the passenger.

To my surprise, he then reversed and asked me to enter, at my price.

On the way, the passengers began arguing about which tribe I was from. I didn’t understand their language, so I had no idea they were debating about me. Eventually, the driver asked:

“Madam, which state are you from?”

He explained that the passengers were insisting I couldn’t be from a certain tribe because “they don’t show kindness.”

I was amused. They were arguing over me and all of them were wrong.

Then the driver asked another question that stayed with me:

“I refused to carry you. Why did you still call me back to help another passenger?”

That’s when it clicked.

I didn’t call him back to impress anyone. I simply didn’t want to block someone else’s opportunity because mine didn’t work out.

And that’s the lesson.

🔹 Most times, we argue online about people who don’t even know they are the topic of discussion.

🔹 We don’t need to pull others down to rise. The sky is wide enough for every bird to fly.

🔹 Simple acts of kindness create ripple effects even when we don’t realize it.

The bus went silent.

But I came home reminded that leadership is not always on a stage, in a boardroom, or on Facebook.

Sometimes, it’s in a small decision no one sees.

And sometimes, the smallest act becomes the loudest message.
