Akwa Ibom State Police Command said it has commenced investigation to establish circumstances surrounding the alleged su***de of founder and General Overseer of Power in the Word of God for the World Ministries pastor Etetim Udo whose co**se was found dangling with rope around his neck in the church compound at No.1B Etim Inyang Street, Oron local government area of the state.

A statement signed by Police Public Relations Officer in the state DSP Timfon John and made available to Journalists in Uyo stated that the incident occurred in the church premises as a resident in the area sent a distress call to the police claiming that he arrived the church compound and discovered a gathering of people where he was informed by the deceased children that their father had taken his life .

John said the command quickly mobilized to the scene and snapped photographs while relevant exhibits were recovered to assist in forensic examination and other investigations.

The statement read in part: “On Thursday, 23rd July, 2026, at about 8:18 a.m., the Command received a distress report from a resident who stated that upon arriving at the church premises, where he usually parks his motorcycle, he noticed an unusual gathering.

“He was subsequently informed by the deceased’s children that their father had allegedly taken his own life. Following the report, police operatives immediately mobilised to the scene

Preliminary observations revealed that the deceased was found suspended with a twisted mosquito net rope.
