π¦· impacted wisdom tooth can damage nearby tooth
This video first explains through AI animation how lack of space causes wisdom teeth to get stuck against the second molar, leading to food impaction and tooth decay. The second part shows a real patient with the same condition.
π‘ To prevent pain, swelling, infection, and damage to nearby teeth, such impacted wisdom teeth often need removal.
π Please share to help raise public oral health awareness.
π¦· Wishing you good health and happiness.
π¦· Dental implant vs dental bridge
A dental implant replaces a missing tooth by placing an artificial root in the jawbone without damaging adjacent teeth. A dental bridge takes support from neighboring teeth, which usually need trimming.
π‘ Implants help preserve bone and feel more natural, while bridges are quicker and may cost less initially.

π¦· Dehiscence, an irreversible damage to teeth.
Dehiscence is a condition where there is a localized loss of alveolar bone covering the root surface of a tooth, exposing a portion of the root beneath the gums. Unlike normal bone support, the bone over the root becomes very thin or completely absent in a specific area.
π¬ What Causes Dehiscence?
Several factors can contribute to dehiscence, including:
β’ Thin alveolar bone
β’ Prominent or malpositioned teeth
β’ Severe tooth crowding
β’ Aggressive tooth brushing
β’ Periodontitis and bone loss
β’ Orthodontic tooth movement beyond the bone limits
β’ Trauma from occlusion
β οΈ Clinical Features
Dehiscence may not always be visible initially, but it can lead to:
β’ Gingival recession
β’ Root surface exposure
β’ Tooth sensitivity
β’ Food lodgment
β’ Esthetic concerns
β’ Increased risk of root abrasion and root caries
In many cases, patients notice gum recession without realizing the underlying bone support is missing.
π οΈ Why Is It Important?
When bone support is reduced, the gums become more vulnerable. If oral hygiene is poor or brushing is traumatic, recession can worsen over time.
During orthodontic treatment, tooth movement outside the bony housing may increase the risk of dehiscence.
π‘ Prevention & Management
πͺ₯ Gentle brushing technique
π¦· Maintaining healthy gums and oral hygiene
π¨ββοΈ Periodic dental evaluation
πΈ Proper radiographic and clinical assessment before orthodontic treatment
In selected cases, periodontal surgical procedures such as gum grafting may help improve coverage and protection.
β¨ Key Message
Dehiscence is often a hidden problem beneath the gums, but its effects become visible through recession and sensitivity.
π Healthy bone and gums are essential for long-term tooth stability and esthetics.

π¦· Irreversible Tooth Wear Due to Improper Oral Hygiene Habits
This video shows severe and unusual tooth enamel loss, a condition caused by long-term abrasive oral hygiene practices. During history taking, the patient explained that 30β40 years ago, toothbrushes and toothpaste were not commonly available in many villages. People often used sand, charcoal, ash, and other rough materials to clean their teeth.
Over time, these abrasive methods gradually wore away the enamel surface, leading to:
β’ Severe tooth abrasion
β’ Exposure of dentine
β’ Tooth sensitivity
β’ Difficulty in chewing
β’ Weakening and permanent damage of teeth
π¬ Why Is This Important?
Enamel is the hardest structure in the body, but once lost, it cannot regenerate naturally. The damage caused by years of improper cleaning becomes irreversible.
Although such traditional cleaning methods are less common today, similar damage still occurs due to:
β οΈ Harsh brushing
β οΈ Brushing with excessive force
β οΈ Brushing for prolonged periods
β οΈ Using hard-bristled toothbrushes or abrasive materials
Many people believe brushing harder means cleaning better, but in reality, it slowly destroys the teeth and gums.
π‘ Key Message
Lack of awareness today can result in irreversible dental damage tomorrow.
π Proper oral hygiene does not mean aggressive cleaning.
πͺ₯ Use a soft toothbrush, gentle technique, and fluoridated toothpaste.
π¨ββοΈ Regular dental checkups help detect harmful habits early.
π¦· Healthy brushing protects teeth aggressive brushing destroys them.
π¦·β οΈRetained deciduous tooth roots require timely removal to save the normal eruption path of permanent teeth. If ignored, they can block eruption, cause abnormal tooth positioning, crowding, impaction, and bite problems.

π¦· Retained milk teeth can disturb permanent tooth eruption
This picture shows a 14-year-old child with retained deciduous (milk) tooth roots on one side and a retained milk tooth on the other side, exactly where the permanent second premolars should erupt.
π¬ Why Is This Important?
Milk teeth are meant to fall out at the right time so permanent teeth can erupt normally. When retained roots or milk teeth remain for too long, they can:
β’ Block the eruption path of permanent teeth
β’ Cause teeth to erupt in the wrong position
β’ Lead to crowding and bite problems
β’ Increase the risk of tooth impaction
β οΈ If Ignored delayed removal may result in:
β’ Abnormal eruption of permanent teeth
β’ Need for orthodontic treatment (braces)
β’ Complex correction later in life
π¨βπ©βπ§ Role of parents
Parents should regularly observe:
βοΈ Whether milk teeth are shedding on time
βοΈ Delayed eruption of permanent teeth
βοΈ Extra or retained teeth in children
Regular dental checkups during growing years are very important.
π‘ Key Message
Timely removal of retained milk teeth helps permanent teeth erupt normally, creating proper alignment and healthy bite.
π¦· Early dental evaluation can prevent complex orthodontic problems in the future.

π¦· Small Cavity, Big Destruction: The Danger of Undermined Caries
This comparison picture shows the same tooth 2 years apart, what started as a small cavity has now progressed into severe destruction.
Many people ignore cavities when they look small from outside. But once decay crosses the enamel and reaches the dentine, the spread becomes much faster. Dentine is softer than enamel, allowing bacteria to spread sideways beneath the surface.
π¬ What Is an Undermined Cavity?
In an undermined cavity, the outer enamel may appear small or partially intact, while underneath there is a large hidden destruction of dentine.
β οΈ This means:
β’ The visible hole may look small
β’ But internally, the tooth may be extensively damaged
β’ The enamel can suddenly collapse due to lack of support
β Why Is It Dangerous?
If neglected:
β’ Decay rapidly progresses toward the pulp
β’ Pain and sensitivity develop
β’ Infection may spread to the root
β’ Root canal treatment or extraction may become necessary
Many patients seek treatment only after pain starts, but by then the damage is often advanced.
π‘ Key Message
Never judge a cavity by its outer appearance.
π A small black spot can hide a massive cavity underneath.
π¦· Early treatment is simple and conservative, delay makes treatment complex, expensive, and invasive.

π¦· Neglected baby tooth: pain that could have been prevented
I often talk about oral diseases because I strongly believe that people take oral health seriously only when they understand the consequences of neglect. Many dental problems become severe simply because treatment is delayed until it is too late.
This picture shows a badly decayed baby tooth, where the root portion has extruded out of the gums, causing severe pain, irritation, and discomfort to the child.
π¬ How Does This Happen?
When baby teeth are affected by deep decay and left untreated:
β’ The crown portion gradually breaks down
β’ Infection weakens the supporting tissues
β’ Remaining root fragments may become displaced or exposed through the gums
This can make eating, speaking, and even sleeping painful for the child.
β οΈ Why It Matters
Many parents think baby teeth are temporary and do not require treatment. But neglected milk teeth can lead to:
β’ Severe pain and infection
β’ Difficulty in chewing and nutrition
β’ Swelling and abscess formation
β’ Disturbance in eruption of permanent teeth
β’ Fear and trauma associated with dental pain
π‘ Prevention Is Simple
πͺ₯ Proper brushing habits
π Limiting sugary foods
π¨ββοΈ Regular dental checkups
π¦· Early treatment of cavities
β¨ Key Message
This condition was preventable.
π I share such cases to create awareness so people visit the dentist early before pain, infection, and complex treatment become unavoidable.
π¦· Early care saves children from unnecessary suffering and protects their future oral health.

π¦· Neglected Crown Fracture: From Small Injury to Cyst Formation
This picture shows a fracture involving nearly half of the tooth crown, extending deep enough to expose the pulp tissue. Initially, the tooth was painful for a few days, but once the pain disappeared, the patient ignored it for the next 4 years.
π¬ What Happened Inside the Tooth?
When the pulp is exposed after trauma or fracture, bacteria enter the tooth and gradually destroy the pulp tissue. Over time, the pulp becomes necrotic (dead).
Because the pain often stops after pulp death, many patients mistakenly believe the tooth has healed. In reality, the infection silently spreads beyond the root tip.
β οΈ Clinical & Radiographic Findings
On examination, the tooth was non-vital, and radiographic evaluation revealed a cystic lesion associated with the root. What started as a simple crown fracture had progressed into a chronic periapical pathology, making treatment far more difficult and invasive.
π οΈ Why Early Treatment Matters
If treated early, the tooth might have required:
βοΈ Simple restoration
βοΈ Root canal treatment
But delayed treatment increased the complexity and may now require:
β’ Surgical intervention
β’ Extensive endodontic treatment
β’ Possible extraction in severe cases
π‘ Key Message
A fractured tooth should never be ignored, even if pain disappears.
π Loss of pain does not mean healing.
β οΈ Silent infections can continue for years and lead to cyst formation and complex treatment.
π¦· Regular evaluation and timely treatment can save both the tooth and surrounding bone.

π¦·β οΈ Neglect turns simple problems into complex dentistry
Deep bite, untreated posterior cavities, and loss of back teeth can lead to posterior bite collapse and severe enamel wear of front teeth. Over time, this creates complex functional and esthetic problems requiring extensive treatment.
