We also spoke to Chan for .
Starting my career as a bio-processing scientist was a challenge. I felt like I constantly had to prove I was capable. That, as a 150cm tall female I was able to contribute to collagen extraction and electrospinning!
Looking back, I'm so glad I took on the challenge and if I could give a young woman starting out in science any advice it would be to not take anyone's assumptions too seriously and work to prove them wrong.
It’s all about working as a team, having open and honest discussions, and using the different skill sets and expertise on offer. I‘m fortunate to work with a team of women – and men – who know how to support each other.

This we spoke to Carrad about being a woman in science.
Working as a woman in science is a very rewarding experience but starting out, it was challenging to have my insights and opinions taken seriously. But, the Revolution Fibres R&D team is a general neutral space where all opinions and ideas are valued - gender diversity makes for a well-rounded environment where all perspectives are accounted for and we definitely see the benefits of this here.
Working on , developing science-lead cosmecuitical products that are changing the cosmetic industry has been an amazing experience. Knowing my work and innovations are working to make an impact on the cosmetic industry, an industry targeted largely at women, is empowering and I'm proud I'm able to make a difference in people's lives.
I am lucky to have worked under some amazing women like Dr Zheng who have helped me take on the challenge of making science my career and I hope I am able to act as a role model to other young females who are intimidated by the industry. They have every capability to excel in this industry and there is more than enough room for them - it is an incredibly rewarding career.

To meet the strong demand in South Korea throughout Lunar New Year, we sent out shipments of ActivLayr like this one every week. Since we launched ActivLayr in 2019 we have seen a 4500% growth, going from manufacturing 200m of rolled goods to more than 90,000m in less than two years. We have seen quick uptake in South Korea, China and other parts of Asia, particularly over Lunar New Year and Singles Day. The demand is always increasing as people recognise the power of nanofibre cosmeceuticals and we can't wait to see what's next.
