Be aware…. These scammers are getting sneaky!

Police are aware of a recent overseas rise in scams which involve an unexpected package being sent to addresses with a gift and a QR code inside.

Police believe this scamming method could find its way to New Zealand and we are urging people to be vigilant.

The gift will have the recipients address, but not include the sender's information or be from a known retailer. When the recipient opens the package to see what it is and possibly who sent it, there is a QR code to scan to find out who sent the gift.

The QR code allows the offenders to then access any and all data on your phone or device you used to scan the code, including financial information such as your bank account login details, and personal data.

Police are urging anyone who receives one of these gifts not to scan the QR code, the gift can either be kept or discarded, but do not scan the QR code.

Today is World Head & Neck Cancer Awareness Day…..
the power of awareness and early diagnosis is essential in winning the fight.
Having traveled through this horrendously difficult treatment and recovery over the past couple of years, helping to raise awareness is the very least I can do.

If something doesn’t feel right, don’t procrastinate…. Get it checked!
If your doctor doesn’t listen…. MAKE them listen!
In hindsight I had multiple early indications of my cancer…. That was fobbed off by the nurse practitioner as just being “obese “ to the point where I stopped going… I wasn’t paying to see her when I knew what her response would be.
I wasn’t until the lump grew on the side of my neck, which I still tried to ignore for a month or so… cancelled several Doctors appointments because I got called into work even.
Until the day I knew I had to get it looked at, wholeheartedly expecting it to just be a cyst! I managed to get into see an ACTUAL Doctor…. And that was the beginning of the rug being pulled from beneath me….

We're spraying invasive plants along the Kāpiti Expressway with a w**d killer dyed pink – don't touch these plants. Don't stop to pick them.

Some of you have noticed the pink grass plants along the Kāpiti Expressway. This is pampas grass, which is an invasive species. Pampas provides a habitat for pests such as rats and possums, smothers young trees, and is a fire risk.

As part of our pest control work, we spray pampas grass with a w**d killer. The w**d killer is dyed pink to show which plants we've sprayed.

Don't touch plants dyed pink. We need to stop the spread of pampas – and it's not safe to stop on the expressway for anything other than an emergency.
