Judi's Aroma Therapeutic Health Care

Aromatherapy Essential Oils were used frequently thousands of years ago by the Ancient Egyptians, during Bible times and throughout the middle ages. Slowly their use declined however, as Scientific progress brought chemical substitutes which were usually cheaper and easier to mass produce. Whilst these produced reasonable perfumes, their therapeutic benefits were often inferior to those of essential oils. Today the use of essential oils is increasing in popularity as more and more people become increasingly aware of their therapeutic values. Therapeutic Massage Massage dating back some 5000 years was used as an accompaniment to medicine. Ancient Chinese, Indian and Egyptian manuscripts refer to the use of massage to prevent and cure diseases and to heal injuries. In ancient Greek and Roman literature there are numerous references to massage. It was advocated before and after sport, instead of exercise during convalescence, after bathing or as a medical treatment for such varied conditions as melancholia, asthma, digestive problems and even sterility. The use of massage, however, declined in the middle ages. Today massage is again widely practised therapeutically and is called Swedish (therapeutic or remedial) massage. Reflexology Whilst the first evidence of Reflexology is to be found in an Egyptian tomb of 2330BC, Zone Therapy was rediscovered by Dr W. Fitzgerald around 1909. Fitzgerald found the stimulation of the skin caused a reflex action to occur. By working anywhere within a zone, everything in the zone was affected. Zone therapy was very controversial from 1915 to the early 1930’s, by which time Eunice Ingham, known today as the Pioneer of Reflexology, realized the benefits and began influencing more people from the 1960’s onward. As many amazing results, both physical and emotional, have been experienced by more people, the Art of Reflexology has now become accepted and practiced in most countries throughout the world.

With Summer now approaching, remember the sunhats!
Protect yourself from the harsh elements of those penetrating rays while the sun smiles upon us!

If the sun does burn your skin, remember to apply Lavender essential Oil directly to the burn.. it will soothe the sting and assist with the healing of the skin.

No home should be without this Oil… Lavender is not only an Anti-depressant, relaxing and calming to the body, great for aching and tired muscles but also an antiseptic which can be used as a remedy for, acne, burns, cuts and wounds, earache, eczema, fever, headaches, insomnia, menstrual cramps, a combat against mosquitoes and midges, great for sinus relief and perfect for the relief of sunburn.

Stop into your local health shop for a bottle to pop into your medicine cabinet or picnic/camping pack. This is the only essential oil which is completely safe to apply direct to the skin without a carrier oil.

Have fun this Summer!

When a client suffers from pain in certain muscles it is often beneficial to work on Trigger Points for these muscles. Trigger Points are localised areas on the body which release pain from the offending muscle. Each muscle in the body has it's own Trigger Point/s. By pressing and holding for approx eight seconds into these points, pain can be released from the offending muscle/muscle group. Judi incorporates Trigger point therapy when she is working with her client to target muscle pain to offer relief.

REFLEXOLOGY

Our feet on which our whole body rests, are largely neglected even though they affect our entire well-being.

Reflexology is a natural therapy, a science which deals with the principle that there are reflex areas in the feet and hands which correspond to all of the glands, organs and body systems. Pressure is applied to areas of the feet or hands using thumb & finger techniques.

This natural therapy helps to relieve stress and tension, improve nerve and blood supply, and assist nature to normalise or balance the body.

Aroma Therapeutic Massage describes the use of Aromatherapy Oils blended with a base oil such as Sweet Almond Oil (Rich in Vitamin E), to carry out the massage. If you have ever enjoyed the sweet fragrance from a rose, you have experienced the aromatic qualities of essential oils.
Essential oils occur naturally, are volatile aromatic compounds, beautifully fragrant, which are found in seeds, bark, roots, stems, flowers and other parts of plants. It is the essential oils which give the plants their distinctive aromas.
In addition to the benefits to the plants themselves, Essential oils have, for many years, been carefully extracted from the plants and used in health-care practices.
I am a NZ qualified Aromatherapist creating my own blends to suit the individual client in Judi’s Aroma Therapeutic Massage.
