Plenty of live2give Organic Broccoli!

We have plenty of organic, high quality, delicious broccoli! You can enjoy it steamed or roasted, or turn it into a golden broccoli soup on a colder summer day... Here is the recipe we used to serve in our organic plant-based café in Palmy.

Golden Broccoli Soup Recipe
Servings: 4

Ingredients:
200g broccoli (1 small broccoli)
80g broccoli stems
120g carrots
140g brown onions
100g cashew nuts
1380g water
24g vegetable stock powder
2 tsp turmeric powder

Method:
1. Cut broccoli into small florets, keep the florets whole for adding at the end, stems will be blended into soup. Peel and dice the stems.
2. Peel and grate carrots, set aside.
3. Peel and chop onions finely. Add carrots, broccoli stems and onions to pot, add a little water. Cook for 5-7 minutes. Add in turmeric, cook 1 minute longer.
4. Dissolve stock powder in boiling water, add to pot.
5. Place cashews into blender with enough liquid from pot to cover and blend until completely smooth. Now add rest of pot veg and liquid to blender and puree soup. Return to pot once smooth.
6. Add broccoli florets, let cook around 5 mins until tender.
7. Optional: serve with dukkah.

Our chilled truck will be carrying on with deliveries as usual:

Tuesday Run 9am - 9pm Levin to Wellington and Back (flat rate $12.90)

Wednesday Run 12pm - 4pm Palmy (flat rate $7.95) & Feilding (flat rate $8.90)

Those who live outside of Palmerston North and Wellington area will be affected by courier Christmas working hours, but you can still order your goodies, and we'll send your parcel promptly once the courier services are back on.

Breaking News Everyone! Chilled delivery every Tuesday - produce harvested directly from the farm to your box, then same day chilled delivery to your door! 🤩

Our first route is Palmerston North - Kapiti Coast - Wellington starting Tuesday 29th of November. We are super happy that the crisp green silverbeet, spinach, lettuces which look so nice in the field will arrive to you looking the same 🚚.

Other areas are still by overnight courier and we will do our best to have your produce delivered fresh. The more subscriptions we recieve from an area the greater the possibility to add more routes deliveried by our own team.

Amazing progress at despite the rain - luckily with the mulch cover on the beds we could continue planting and we just finished before it got too wet. 10,368 onion seedlings in the ground! Our first ever onions will be going into the veg boxes in a few months time...😁😁😁

What is behind great veg?
...SOIL HEALTH!

One of the keys to health soil is ground cover. We have a motto, "always roots, always cover". Here are a few photos of our ground cover cycle in action.

Pic 1 - Our summer cover crop mix of corn, millet, vetch, linseed, sunflower, arrow leaf clover and crimson clover.

Pic 2 - Last Thursday we hired a drill seeder and seeded 108kg of our summer crop mix over 2 hectares.

Pic 3 - Our spring cover crop with the peas beginning to flower, soon ready to cut and used in situ - we will plant broccoli seedlings directly into the cut cover crop 🥦🥦🥦.

What actually happens... by covering the soil surface and forming an intensive and diversified root system, cover crops will improve soil structure, which will improve water infiltration, water holding capacity and provide key nutrients.

You can subscribe to your box weekly, 2-weekly, 3-weekly or 4-weekly. The goodies in your box alter slightly from week-to-week with the seasons. You can easily modify or cancel your subscription any time, or edit or skip future deliveries or even swap which veg box you want via our subscription portal (under the "HOME" menu).

It was amazing to see all the veg boxes go out last week and we loved getting your feedback! As a result, we have tweaked some of our boxes and added the ORGANIC MEGA :)
