How can I train during lockdown?
If I am unable to ride and practice jumping now and I feel like I want to improve or change, what rider-based training can I do now?
And what’s realistic, during this time, given its’ off-season and I may have turned out my horse already.
Over the next few weeks, we are going to present some of the ways you can enhance your rider training, preserve rider fitness and physical literacy building the mechanisms you need specifically for Show Jumping.
One thing you might focus on right now, might be your cardiovascular system.

Do you wonder if you're eating the best foods for your training? Should you eat more on days you train hard?
If you know anyone with questions about their nutrition, we have a 2 pm appointment available this week with nutritionist Friday 28 Jan (tomorrow). There are costs involved and realistically you will usually need two appointments to analyse your current approach, receive solutions and check your results in any areas identified for improvement.
Msg me 0274777912 for details. Getting your fuel right for your training can make a big difference.

Why I Still Love Racing at Age 82
Just love this article, love the journey, the honesty, most of all the promise of a changing world for the better -the potential of both a long life and a quality of life.
There is so much to take from the words written, so much we all can learn from all that experience.
I lead a team of sports therapists and everyday we work with dedicated athletes, both recreational and competitive, to assist them to have a body that works and behaves younger.
First that takes a mindset like the one so clearly demonstrated here and then it takes insights constructed into a pathway with clear focus on the future body you want.
Our team and our process advocates a long term athlete development plan, inviting the idea of building a body for the long term. Daily we raise the question, "How do we set the stage for success, maximise the opportunity for this individual to run well today as well as long term?"
To achieve this outcome, requires a change of approach from training event to event, 6 week to 12 week. It requires a longer term strategy, one that looks eyeball to eyeball with the changes we can expect decade by decade in the body.
This approach wasn't always available but it's availabe now. We invite you to ask better questions about how to train long term. Does the training you do now build you the body to last? If not, what changes could you invite?
Now, if we could ask your body the same question, would you get the same answer? Or would your knees or your hips say something different?
Better solutions are built by asking better questions. To explore this further contact Barbara, Cara, Lyss and Olivia, learn more www.eventreadybodies.co.nz/contact
Happy training!

Why I Still Love Racing at Age 82 These days I can break a record while finishing last. Some say they find me inspiring, but I often feel like a decrepit but willing old dog who gets a pat when he tries to chase his ball.

Loving this transformation at Event Ready Bodies. Char frustrated by persistant back injury and with a dream to get into the police force, Char joined ERB late March 2020.
Despite huge uncertainty around when she would be called up for the recruitment, she maintained her mindset and her plan right through the covid lockdowns. Here she is pictured on the track, having mastered her movement, stability, running technique and pace.
With just two weeks notice Char was called up for her physical assessment test and she was ready. Char got her body right, completed the police recruitment process and was selected. She is currently completing the 16 week training with the Royal New Zealand Police College - a dream come true for Char! Huge congrats Char - You're an inspiration to your children, your family and to all of us!

Our Story
Ever since Barbara has been helping people recover from their sports events she has been passionate about training preparation.
Barbara has devoted hours and hours, honing her skills and gaining knowledge and tools, all with the goal of helping people improve their physical performance not just for their next event but for life.
She's created the Event Ready Bodies programme and gathered a dedicated and qualified team of sports therapists to support ANY BODY to train successfully for an event, improve their experience and maximize their longevity in their chosen activity. She knows we operate in an information rich era, however appreciates, for many, the problem is there is so much advice out there, it's a challenge to know what information will make the difference.
Barbara says "there is information now to prepare at a whole new level and it's been my ambition to create an environment that makes both the information and it's application accessible, logical and easy to apply"
