We have been sold some very unhelpful ideas about taking care of ourselves.
Let me bust three of them. 👇
Myth 1: "Self-care is selfish."
Truth: Depleted people cannot give what they don't have. Caring for yourself is how you stay capable of caring for others. It's not indulgent, it's strategic.
Myth 2: "You'll rest when the work is done."
Truth: The work is never done. Rest is not something you earn at the finish line. It's fuel you put in along the way.
Myth 3: "Self-care has to be expensive or elaborate."
Truth: Five deep breaths. One glass of water. Ten minutes of stillness. The most effective reset practices cost nothing.
You were taught to save yourself for last.
I'm here to tell you, you don't have to.
