The stranger walked with Alex to her apartment, carrying the puppy in his arms. The silence between them was comfortable, but Alex's mind was racing. Who was this guy? Why was he helping her?

As they reached her doorstep, he handed her the puppy and smiled. "I'm Max, by the way."

Alex felt a flutter in her chest. "I'm Alex," she replied, trying to sound casual.

Max lingered for a moment, then nodded. "You should get dry. The pup needs food and warmth."

Alex nodded, feeling a pang of disappointment. But before she could say goodbye, Max spoke up. "Want to grab coffee with me tomorrow? To make sure the pup's okay?"

Alex's heart skipped a beat. 😏 "Yeah, I'd like that."
