I’m still spellbound with this live caricature from Art in Motion at the ! Not only did the artist, Erwin, capture my smile in just 5 minutes (how?!), but he also perfectly highlighted my – every coil and bounce! ✨
As a curly girl, seeing my natural hair celebrated in art feels so empowering. It’s a reminder that our curls aren’t just hair, they’re identity, confidence, and art in motion (literally!).
To my curly fam: Ever had your curls immortalized in a drawing or painting? Tag your favorite artists who get our texture! Let’s celebrate the creatives who make us feel seen, one spiral at a time. 💜
P.S. Shoutout to Erwin & Mai for this magical keepsake! 👏

Today, I am sharing with you a short film that made my tears fall when I first saw it.
It was the Oscar® Winner for Best Animated Short Film, by Matthew A. Cherry. Here's the link (https://youtu.be/kNw8V_Fkw28).
Hair Love is a 7-minute animated short film that centers around the relationship between an African-American father, Stephen, his daughter, Zuri, and her hair. Despite having long locks, Stephen has been used to his wife doing his daughter's hair, so when she is unavailable right before a big event, Stephen will have to figure it out on his own. This sounds simple enough, but we soon come to find that Zuri's hair has a mind of its own.
After watching this, write what hit you the most in this , and let us talk about it. :-)

My name is PG, and you may call me Paige. This page is about how I came to accept, embrace, and love my curly hair.
Welcome to My Curly Paige!
Here is my story. I used to have straight hair but in 3rd grade, I wanted to have a . At that time, I would be a flower girl for a relative’s wedding and I thought it would be lovely.
Eventually, my became permanent and it started to become unruly, frizzy, and hard to manage. So, I kept on tying it up, then went to different salons to straighten it.
It took me quite a long time to really accept it until the year 2011 when I shaved my head. At that time, I was thinking, that maybe when it grows it will become straight.
It did not. That was the reality. I am really a curly-haired girl. It is now time to embrace it.
From then on, I left my hair as it was. Once I had fully accepted and embraced it, it became easier for me to be confident with it.
I thought I was already doing good until I read about the , which allowed me to care for it more. I was inspired by the different stories of girls who have hair too.
I made this page so that I can reach out to different girls with curly hair, share each other’s stories, and inspire people to embrace what they are blessed with.
