If you are new to perfumes, aside from picking the right scent, you’re probably wondering what’s the difference between eau de parfum (EDP), eau de toilette (EDT), eau de cologne, body splash, and aftershave.

The main difference is the concentration level of fragrance oils applied. Eau de parfum has the highest concentration oil next to the extrait de parfum or pure parfum (20 - 30% oil concentration).

EDP can last up to 4-5 hours, while EDT only lasts up to 3 hours.

Body splash is generally used for hydrating the skin. You can spray it all around the body anytime to feel fresh and clean, but the best time to use it is after taking a shower while your pores are still open and more receptive to fragrance.

If you’ve decided to use body sprays, you may need to re-apply them after a couple of hours to reinforce the fragrance.

And finally, the aftershave, which only contains faint traces of fragrance oil. As the name suggests, aftershave is only used after shaving as a treatment that soothes the skin. It has antibacterial and antiseptic ingredients that are helpful to prevent skin irritation.
