KN95, known as respirators, are recommended only for use by healthcare personnel who need protection from both airborne and fluid hazards as they work closely with patients in the hospital setting.

Medical grade surgical masks like N95 and KF masks follow closely and are approved by ASTM for its publishing and development standards. Their filtration effectiveness is quite similar to the KN95, and recommended to the general public for use in low to moderate risk settings.
