It’s been almost 9 years since Errol started undergoing hemodialysis treatment because he has stage 5 chronic kidney disease. He was just starting his career then as a public school teacher. He is one of the brilliant teachers in the school, so full of life and laughter. That is why he never imagined that time would come when he had to borrow money from his friends and different lending companies because hemodialysis in the Philippines is very costly. After a few years his mother also started undergoing hemodialysis. She had kidney failure as complication of having diabetes. They have to let go of some of their properties to support their medication. Errol started doing some extra work to gain money for his own medication since the situation became harder for the family. He has only 1 sister to help them. Sometimes friends, co-teachers and relatives would help him. Despite all the pain, trials and hardships that he experienced he tried to be strong and live a normal life…his enthusiasm to teach never wavered even when his body was weak.

Last week of May 2017, Errol’s father got hospitalized for 10 days. While his father was confined at the hospital, Errol was diagnosed with levoscoliosis. This condition caused him so much pain as he cannot move his upper body. He had medications and after more than 2 weeks he finally recovered. July 5 when he was about to go back to school he fell from the stairs with his knees first. Because of his weight and the impact from the fall, the doctor said he had complete rupture of tendon based on his knee x-ray. He was confined at the hospital for a few days and since that accident he was not able to walk. He needs to go through knee surgery so he can walk again, it’s his only option. The procedure costs P80,000 or $1,600. That amount DOES NOT include the medicines and the physical therapy after the operation so we are estimating P150,000 or $3,000 to cover his whole expenses. Up to now, the family does not have the money for his operation so please let us help him so he can go back to teaching and to his normal life again. Thank you everyone and may God bless us all.
