Nearsightedness ang error of refraction sa mata ng isang tao kung saan malinaw ang nakikita kapag ang isang bagay ay malapit at malabo kapag malayo bagaman hindi ito nakakahawa maituturing ito ng World Health Organization (WHO) na isang epidemya dahil sa mabilis na pagdami ng mga batang Pilipinong lumalabo ang mata.

Pinapaalalahanan naman ng DOH at ng mga pedia opthalmologists ang mga magulang na huwag gawing babaysitter ang mga gadget sa bahay. Mas makabubuti anila sa isang bata na magkaroon ng outdoor activites isang oras araw-araw.

Dapat hikayatin ang mga bata na makipaglaro sa ibang bata kaysa sa paglalaro o panonood ng mga videos sa loob ng bahay gamit ang gadgets.

Paiigtingin pa ng WHO at DOH ang programa kaugnay ng maayos na paningin lalo na’t sight saving month ang buwan ng Agosto.

Nakapaloob dito ang mga talakayan at pagpapayo sa mga magulang ng tamang pag-aalaga sa paningin ng kanilang mga anak na dalawang taong gulang pataas hanggang grade schoolers.
