this is the WHY behind myalfazema đź”®
we create a better world by taking care of ourselves.
when we feel more aligned, understood, and free in our own lives, we naturally begin to share our gifts, serve from abundance, and create what we were born to do.
we retreat not to escape the world,
but to be fuller participants in it.
be the change you want to see in the world.
leave a ❤️ if this resonates

i did not want to try yoga. but my mother kept nudging me. i went convinced it was going to be escapism, woo-woo, and weird postures.
six years later, i am still here. fascinated and humbled by what it keeps transforming.
as a student, i have spent years collecting questions, misconceptions i heard around me, myths i once held myself, and answers i found through books, classes, and retreats.
this post is that collection. it is forever incomplete.
i chose 9 intentionally. it symbolises transition, consciousness and universal love. reminders yoga keeps placing in my path.
what surprised me most was finding the overlap between psychology & yoga. different language, centuries apart, similar insights.
both ask us to look inward/outward with honesty and think critically about what we find.
i have been lucky to learn from yoga teachers who live the practice. filipa is one of them. someone who showed me that serenity and strength do not contradict each other. a remarkable teacher of yoga asana (postures), and everything beyond it.
this summer i am honoured to co-host our retreat with her.
if this post resonated, join us.
comment “YOGA” and i’ll send you the info.
ps: if there is something in this collection you want to add or question, please share below. i truly love open discussions đź”®

there is this illusion that we are static/fixed beings.
that who we are today is who we’ll always be. that the perfectionism urge is set in stone. but it isn’t. it’s a lens, and lenses can change.
everything is a product of your mind.
this was the first thing my social psychology professor said, and it is the most liberating and most challenging thing i’ve ever learned.
we don’t see things as they are. we see them as we are. emotions don’t arise from events themselves but from our judgements of those events.
but understanding and living this insight are two very different things. we are pulled in the opposite direction every single day. between the fast paced life and the longing for a wellness one, we started behaving like machines with a never-ending must-have list, ignoring the power of our minds to determine the quality of our lives.
wabi-sabi is the living version of this insight. this japanese philosophy rewires you to see life differently. to meet imperfection, impermanence and incompleteness not as failures but as the actual texture of a real life.
many people who come here have demanding jobs, social responsibilities, a fast pace of creation. and yet what made them feel better was not changing their entire life, they changed the lens. that’s the paradigm shift.
this is our 5th retreat rooted in this philosophy, together with yoga and psychology. and we keep offering it because the breakthroughs have been mind-blowing.
swipe right. you might recognise some of these voices. a reminder: it’s in your power to change them.
as always, i love to connect with you so comment below or dm to know more đź”®
