Based in Porto, Venn Foods was started by three friends who want to ‘re-invent’ our current unsustainable food system. 🌍

To avoid grocery shopping and to make cooking easy, Venn Foods has created the VennBox 📦 which contains step-by-step instructions to turn pre-portioned ingredients into delicious, healthy meals.

Clients get to pick between 2-4 recipes designed in kits that contain all the required fresh (and locally sourced) products and other ingredients pre-portioned in the exact amounts needed to re-create these delicious dishes 🥕.

TAGLIATELLE 3x 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦

🍄 250 g cogumelos pleurotus
🧅 1x cebola
🧄 3x dentes de alho
🧃 1x creme vegetal
🍜 180 g tagliatelle
🥄 1x c. de sopa ervas de Provence
🥄 ½ c. chá noz-moscada
🥄 ½ c. chá pimenta preta
🌿 ½ molho manjericão
🌻 1 + 2x c. sopa de azeite
🧂 Sal q.b.

1️⃣ Coze a massa em água a ferver com sal e 1 c. de sopa de azeite durante 8 min., escorre e passa por água fria.
2️⃣ Refoga o alho picado e a cebola em meias-luas finas, numa frigideira com 2 c. de sopa de azeite.
3️⃣ Adiciona os cogumelos desfiados e as ervas de Provence e deixa refogar uns 7 min., mexendo ocasionalmente.
4️⃣ Acrescenta as natas e os restantes temperos e cozinha 2 min.
5️⃣ Adiciona a massa e envolve.
6️⃣ Serve com folhas frescas de manjericão.

NOODLES 3x 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦

🍄 200 g cogumelos shiitake
🧅 1x cebola
🧄 2x dentes alho
🍠 2 cm gengibre
🌻 2 + 2x c. sopa de óleo
🧃 ½ chávena molho de soja
🥄 2x c. sopa açúcar de coco
🥄 2x c. sopa vinagre de arroz
💧 1/3 chávena água
🧂 Sal e pimenta preta q.b.
🍜 2x molhos noodles
🥄 2x c. sopa sementes de sésamo
🌿 1x molho microverdes de cebola

1️⃣ Coze os noodles em água a ferver com sal durante 5 min., tira-os e reserva.
2️⃣ Refoga o alho picado e a cebola picados, numa frigideira com 2 c. de sopa de óleo.
3️⃣ Acrescenta os cogumelos laminados e deixa refogar uns 6 min., mexendo ocasionalmente.
4️⃣ Numa taça, mistura o açúcar, o molho de soja, o vinagre, a água, pimenta, o gengibre picado e mais 2 c. de óleo, adiciona à frigideira e envolve, e deixa o molho reduzir e caramelizar.
5️⃣ Adiciona os noodles e envolve gentilmente.
6️⃣ Serve decorado com os microverdes e as sementes de sésamo.

A warm bowl of porridge sometimes is just the right thing to kickstart the morning isn’t it?
Wouldn’t it be nice to have a dinner porridge to cap off the day??
Well...we have cooked up something for these slightly friskier, autumny days.

You might have already noticed but this week’s menu are rocking the pumpkins.🎃

If you want to know where this blissful smile on Onė's face is coming from, the answer is in this weeks VennBox.
This velvety oat grain based risotto is a recipe from a past collaboration we did with and . Creamy pumpkin puree is mixed in with the soft, slowly cooked grains and finally topped off with watercress leaves to ensure this dish is golden in more than just appearance!

Oops... We did it again!
The pasta factory at Venn is churning out another delightful plate of something wonderfully Italian inspired! 🙈🇮🇹

This time it’s Penne Neapolitan style. And moreover, we get along with the Halloween mood and add in some sweet and creamy hokkaido pumpkin sauce around the al dente penne.

And not just any old apple! It's the queen of them all! The Reinette might not be the sweetest but don't we all enjoy a dose of something sour in our life from time to time. But let us tell you something: she is extremely healthy and definitely takes care of your sugar levels!

This week she is in great company - sitting on a bed of smokey white bean hummus and decorated with some peppery and spicy watercress.

With this weeks dish, we are giving you the easy way out to these pierogis. Łazanki is a 'deconstructed' version of this typical dish. Let the satisfied smile of Iga be the prove of hustle free deliciousness.

Some of our old recipes come back in their original and some of them come back with a little more style and pizzazz.😎

This dish might have needed a little bit of souping up and framing (thanks to the brilliant work of 📸), but the recipe is still packs all of awesomess of a classic summer stirfry. Slightly springy Udon noodles mixed with with bunch of crunchy vegetables dressed in a rich and creamy peanut butter sauce.🥕🥦🥜

You must be POKEing me! Poke without fresh fish? wth? 🙈
As usual, we use a helping hand from for our sea inspired dishes. In this case, this classic polynesian dish is presented with samphire (salicornia) coated tofu.🌱

This is an intersting dish, almost eponymous with Hawaii but does carry a load of flavours reminiscent to Japanese cuisine.

Equally interesting is the person eating it here. 😉 In between her modelling work with , Carolina is also part of the collective where she let's her creativity run free! She also supports the great work of and is a proud mum of her beautiful dog Benfi.

As we mentioned before, it’s August and tomato season - and we are so psyched!🍅💚

Vibrant, succulent, sweet, tangy and juicy! What more could one ask for!
We are thinking combinations and is there a better one than tomato and pesto?? 🌱

produces one of our favoriute plant-based versions of this classic sauce from Genoa. So good right out of the jar that you can drizzle and dab it on anything your heart desires!

Estamos no meio da época do tomate, o que signif**a que podemos precisar de ter gaspacho no nosso menu 🍅🇪🇸⁠
Para sermos justos, houve um pequeno discurso enquanto tirávamos esta foto. Mas era inevitável!⁠

Maria é uma verdadeira espanhola e preocupa-se definitivamente com o seu gaspacho (até tem a sua própria tigela somente para esta sopa, feita no seu lindo atelier de cerâmica .porto). ⁠

Não vamos esconder o facto que no início ela considerava a nossa versão apenas uma sopa de tomate gelada. Ela aproximou-se da tigela com uma hesitação ligeira, mas a primeira colher cheia era tudo o que era necessário para a conquistar!⁠

Gostaríamos de dar a esta uma posição de estrela no menu desta semana.
Um dos pratos principais do Levante - Mujaddara. Tão simples, mas tão nutritivo! Cheio de avelãs tostadas e crocantes e cebolas caramelizadas finas. A base do prato não podia ser mais simples - lentilhas castanhas cozidas com arroz (de ) em conjunto com um molho suave e rico de tahini e limão.🍋🍃

The Levantine staple - mujaddara, so simple yet so nutritious!⁠ Packed full of crunchy toasted hazelnuts and delicate caramelized onions. The base of the dish couldn't be any more simple - brown lentils boiled with rice (from ) paired with a smooth and addictive tahini and lemon dressing.⁠🍋🍃

Inegavelmente, uma delas é nossa recriação antiga - Batatas Bombay. Desta vez apresentada numa nova edição de Verão - fresca e cheia de cor (e sabor!)🇮🇳

Trívia Bónus: Foram os colonialistas britânicos que trouxeram as batatas para a Índia, percebendo que seria mais fácil alimentar a povoação local utilizando menos espaço de campo, fazendo-a cultivar batatas em vez de arroz.

Como sempre, na Venn oferecemo-vos uma abundância. Portanto, muitas batatas e arroz para manter toda a gente feliz.😃⁠

We don't live in that era anymore, thankfully!

Not fantastic at all! Not even the slightest bit cool!

After all, only around 9% of plastic produced is being recycled. ⁠
Paper and Glass packaging all around for us. Easier to recycle. Much easier to re-use.📦️

An overwhelming amounts of plastic pollution end up in the ocean every day killing marine life of all forms. Scientists are even discovering micro-plastics embedded in Arctic ice. ⁠

Definitely amonst the top 10 of our favourite elements to use in our test kitchen for that special Venn culinary alchemy.🪄🍃

It not only makes us happy and the dishes tasty (thanks to rich and unmistakable umami flavour), but this gem of an ingredient is a great and healthy alternative to salt.

Does it have sodium? Yes it does. Do all the benefits coming from soy beans counterbalance the ill effects of high sodium content? Yes they do.
But most of all it just screams to us - MISO tasty!⁠ 😃

🇵🇹Provavelmente já deves ter reparado que usamos muito citrinos em algumas das nossas receitas.⁠
Do ponto de vista culinário, permite-nos alcançar riqueza e profundidade de sabor, mas não é a única coisa que aqueles deliciosos frutos coloridos trazem para a mesa. Afinal, são mais do que uma cara bonita ;) ⁠
Os citrinos são também muito potentes em valor nutritivo. Obviamente ricos em vitamina C (da qual toda a gente já sabe) - ajudando na acção de reforço imunitário. Além disso, ajuda a combater deficiências de ferro, ajuda a reduzir a fadiga muscular (sim, come uma laranja depois de um treino cansativo) e muito mais! (Google ainda é teu amigo!)⁠
Uma coisa muito importante para dizer também (talvez, a melhor parte?) é que eles simplesmente têm um cheiro absolutamente divino.⁠ 🍋🍊🌱⁠

🇬🇧You might have noticed that we go citrus heavy in many of our recipes.⁠
From the culinary point of view, it allows us to achieve richness and depth of flavour but hey ho it's not the only thing those happy colourful fruits bring to the table. As it turns out they are more than just a pretty face ;) ⁠
Citruses are also very potent in nutritive value. Obviously rich in vitamin C (which every one is well aware of by now) - helping in immuno boosting action. Moreover, it helps fight iron deficiencies, help reduce muscle fatigue (yes, dig into an orange after a tiring workout) and much more! (Google is still your friend!)⁠
One really really important thing to also mention (perhaps, the best bit?) is that they just smell absolutely heavenly and divine.⁠🍋🍊🌱⁠
